| | | how do you guys go about finding information on cities and stuff. I have recently seen in a few threads about how there are "secret" or "lost" tunnels or caves under some cities, ie the caves under St.Louis. how would i go about finding things like this about my old hometown? Im originally from hartville/alliance area and i have been around uniontown quite a bit. but i also lived in the akron area near barberton for a while, and just wanted to know how i could find some useful information to explore anything that may be around those areas.

| | | keep your eyes on the tree line and the side of the road instead of where your driving. takes a bit of practice and a few vehicular manslaughters till you get the hang of it. [last edit 12/8/2006 2:11 PM by Duncantx - edited 1 times]

Ha ha. I can't believe the number of times I have to correct myself when I am driving. My wife gets pissed.

| | | go in to a bar and start talking to some of the older people, they are most of the time a huge help, this works well in smaller towns

Damnit, I was going to say that! Go do some research, read up on the history of your town, find out what industries it used to have, what different districts were developed around, etc. Check on old newspapers or history books for the area, and look up anything interesting you find.
Turn off the internet and go play outside. http://spamusement...hp/comics/view/137 |

| | | A lot of the places I've found have been through driving along less-used roads. If I see a road that trails off into the woods or old fence/building in the area, I'll look it up on google maps using my blackberry. Word-of-mouth also helps. Ask around, you'd be amazed at how many people are aware of interesting places, but never really thought about exploring them.
