Anyone up for some exploring in the Lex-Vegas area? I'm relatively new to the area, but I know of a couple of places if anyone wants to go...

There are a few in the area...I usually have to go out of town to find anything stellar.

Lexington really doesn't have a whole lot to offer. A few houses here and there, but nothing really impressive. You're better off driving to Cincy.

There's some stuff, old houses, a farm house here and there or some construction provides access into old warehouses. Other than that, Cincy is the gold mine.

Always go for broke.

Funny...I seem to find all sorts of interesting stuff. Recently I have found abandoned hospitals, distilleries, and an assortment of other less savory buildings.

I need to think a little more before i talk. I realized after that post that it was my own boredom with the home town advantage. If you're willing to look we do have some old distilleries, Georgetown HAD an old hospital that was fantastic, as well, there are some remnants of the good ol' days.

I'll warn you now, don't fuck around with the distilleries. They are watched very closely.

I am quite well aware of how well watched certain abandonments tend to be. It is unwise to casually jump a fence at noon when the surrounding area is active.

Is the hospital still there? I know of a pretty cool house in Georgetown, but I'll have to ask about the exact location

Just remembered... I definitely recommend the Continental Inn off Winchester Road. My friends and I got a door open (the set of double doors along the long brick wall around the back). I also recommend flashlights. I think this place might be going soon, so go now!

John Graves Ford came down about a year ago. Really pity, first place Seicer and I explored together.

One of my best friends attends UK...he told me once he discovers some cool places we will have to go! I live about 3 hours away...maybe we can all meet up some time.

Don't know much about Lexington, but I'm only about an hour and a half away in Cincy, and know of lots of places here. Wouldn't mind checking out some spots in Lexington at some point though.

Nope, still there. They've just started locking the doors now after they finish working for the day, but you can check every now and then because sometimes they miss one.

Does anyone know about the catacombs under Lexington? Early settlers gave many reports about discovering them underground near what is now Rupp Arena. This has been reported for many generations. I spoke to a guy that worked at the public library in the early '70's who said an entrance existed on South Mill when he grew up there. Any comments are appreciated.
