What are the dates of the pics? And technically, the second set of pics is the front (the west side facing Hopkins).

Incredible photos. That house was well-loved at one time.
I would love to see the blueprints if you can get them.

Also interesting is evidence of more buildings south of Ringwood on Hopkins. I wonder how long ago they were demolished?

I did notice that as well (the other buildings) I wonder if they were part of the Ringwood property or a neighbouring one? I would think they may have been gone for some time. The drawing shows a significant amount of land from the front of the house down to the road. Obviously that is not the case anymore. I guess over the years the property has become smaller and smaller with the increase in size of Hopkins, Victoria St. and of course the 401.

Nice work "what's left of the psych" thanks for taking some time to research Ringwood and post the pics. What is the history of the original owner?

Np I don't know much about the owner. His name was Barnabus Gibson, A prominent railroad contractor. There was more then one owner for the house. It was built in 1876, After he lost the house in the depression it was converted to the head office of co-steel in 1976. After that i don't know what happen and why they abandoned the house.

Great find! I always thought that the wooden building to the east of the house (now attached by a garage) was a more modern addition, I guess not!

I would have loved to have known about the barn before the excavations for the big-box retail started. It would have been great to at lease explore the footprint of the old building. I bet some great artifacts were unearthed that ended up in a landfill!

This species has amused itself to death!

About the same size of an average barn. Nothing really fancy that made it unique.

Gone for a while. Be back when I'm back.
