New Renfrew Location?

I was driving through Renfrew on the weekend and pulled over when I saw this place. It's obviously quite old, and obviously quite abandoned. I took a walk around and snapped a few photos, and was pretty surprised to find out that it isn't listed in our DB here (actually, pretty surprised that nothing in Renfrew is listed, seeing as it's a pretty old town).

I looked around online but had a hard time digging up any history about it. However there is a few pieces of scrap metal nailed to one side of the building, and I am told that the paint on it looks like part of an old logo for a Renfrew Flour Mill. I don't have any photos of that side though.

Here is the place:

Just right of centre in the above photo you can see a glass door (which looks really out of place on this building, by the way). Here's what I could make out through the glass:

The place looks fairly clean inside, and the ladder, etc, makes me suspect it's getting some renovation work.

Walking further around the building I came to this:

...which unfortunately was not an entrance. The "ANCE" part of the door had a bit of give to it, but was nailed at the top so it wouldn't open far enough to get someone inside. Not without some B&E work anyways. And with it being mid-afternoon and all with traffic zipping by, I declined.

Coming around another corner I was standing here:

This door also had some flexibility to it, and opened just far enough for me to get my lens inside for a flash shot:

Not sure what that stuff is in the background, but the neatly piled lumber again makes me think someone's cleaning the place up. Also the Ralph & Milton Electrical Contractors truck in the next shot:

Here's what I could see looking in through a partially open basement window:

And the side of the building:

Anyways, does anybody know anything about this place?

I don't know anything about the place but if I was a betting man....i'd say it looks like a candidate for a loft condo. Brick walls, exposed wood, tall windows/ceilings

That last pic looks like the handiwork of looters perhaps?

What looks looted?

Shit I didn't notice til now but there's a bit of paint left from an old sign in that last photo... I'll take a look at the original photo later and see if I can make it out. Something... Valley... something... limited?

So nobody knows anything about this place? Is it worthwhile adding to the DB?

What looks looted?

The last pic...it looks like "somebody" ripped off the exterior sidings.

Oh for sure... I thought you maybe meant the kicked-in window or something.

Siding or no siding, it didn't really detract from the look of the place.

that is the old ottawa valley grain building , a guy has purchased with plans for a night club and rib place.
it has not been used in years. he took the metal siding off for some reason.
restoring it ??but more then likely the metal was worth more as scrap
i am from renfrew so that is the news on that site
