|  | | | taken in 2000. at the time there was a farm house and a large shed with a tractor. for whatever reason i didnt think to take pics of the rest of the place so this is all i have. this location is off of turkey lake rd. some may know of it but for those who dont, good luck finding it!

There are some old buildings on the Cape from the days of the original settlements. I have some pre 1950 maps showing building locations prior to the federal buyout and subsequent moving/demolition of most buildings. The management of that area is now split between two different agencies. One of the agencies basically treats all areas (which are east of SR3) as off limits unless otherwise posted and the other agency treats all areas as open access unless otherwise posted. Given the maps and Google earth images, some of the foundations from some of the settlements may still be present. I have seen small in-tact buildings as a kid...my uncle would take us exploring in the area. That was 1980. I did read an article on a school-house from a black settlement (south of the VAB in restricted federal property) that survived and eventually partially restored to keep it in-tact. Oddly enough, little information of the original settlements, at least to the north of the VAB, exists. I have seen photos of the original move. After searching the public library in Titusville for information, I was told that whatever historical information is available is located at the N. Brevard Historical Society on US 1 in downtown Titusville.
