old house foundations

In Escondido (north San Diego) I took my girls with me to the remnants of a house that burned 30 years back. Not much left 'sides the stone foundations but its still an interesting place. I was trying out my new Nikon D50 but I'm only moderately happy with the pics because it was such a gray day.

That's cool. Reminds me of the Ozark Highland Trail.

It seemed like a good idea at the time...

I love those. Someday maybe in spring, i would like to do a tour of CA Route 66 open to UER members. Lots of foundations out there. I saw some in Barstow around Stoddard Wells OHV area yesterday.

I've heard that some of the foundations off 66 are from a communist compound built during the 20s. I could be wrong though.

Tourism, human circulation considered as consumption is fundamentally nothing more than the leisure of going to see what has become banal.

I recently drove cross-country from Jersey out to Cali and along the way we saw a myriad of abandonments and explored a handful. Some very cool pieces of history along our old highways.
