Hey all, I'm new to this site. I'm trying to find some great locations in southern cali to go exploring in. I mainly wanna find abandoned asylum's, mines, but anything closely related will do find. And I sure wouldnt mind meeting up with a few people and doing something. Reply or email me at [email protected] I appreciate the help! Thanx,

Hello and Welcome...

There's probably a lot of stuff in your area. I know there's tons of abandoned squatter shacks out there in the desert. In Desert Center, there's an abandoned elementary school that's worth stopping by. Old piano still in there. It's right off the freeway, you cant miss it.
You're close enough to the Salton Sea, there's really awesome things to be seen around the whole lake. Do your research, locations are really easy to find.
Hope that's a start

Yeah, that is a great help. I appreciate it. It kinda sucks since I'm new to this area, and well, I also suck at the research part since I am still pretty new to this whole thing. Mostly back home I would just wonder around until I found something interesting and would just go in. Also, you know where I can find that school? I've actually heard about from a few sources, but can't find the exact location for it.

Guess I forgot to mention which freeway the school was off of, huh? It's off the 10 fwy. I think there's only 1 or 2 exits for Desert Center. Take the dirt frontage road that runs along the freeway. The school is between the freeway and the road only about 100 yards from the exit. You really cant miss it.
For Salton Sea info, check out this site http://www.greetin...om/saltlaunch.html
click on the "click to launch site" at the bottom of the page and explore the map. From Bombay Beach, North Shore Yacht Club, the Slabs and Salvation mountain, it's all good. Make sure you allot plenty of time (at least a whole day) to explore. The place is huge and the drives between locations can take a while. If you go the the Yacht club, try and be discreet as possible. The locals are pretty vigilant about keeping people away.

You live in LA. There's a ton of stuff to see there. Go find it. And when you do come back and tell us about it. No more of this 'Hey, I'm new. Tell me where the cool locals are' shit.

The following sentence is false. The preceding sentence is true.

No, I dont live in LA. I'm three hours east of there. I am located in the middle of the desert, (newly stationed to 29 Palms, yay?) thats why I was asking about some good spots to go to. If there was some stuff actually around here I would have no problem doing some random searching, but going a possible three hours out of my way, I want to make sure I'm actually gonna see something good, you know? And thanx again to everyone for the help.
