| | | so i guess this technically isnt urban exploration since theres nothing urban about it. but i thought this was a pretty neat place anyways. the place is called Wash Woods and its located in false cape state park, about 2 miles from the NC border in VA. for information about it, your best bet is wikipedia. the basics are that this is an extinct town (theres only a church steeple and grave markers left) that was supposedly built from shipwrecks that washed up along the shore. abandoned in abround (thats a mix between about and around, and no, i wont change it) 1930 due to harsh weather conditions and so forth. personally, i think they left because of the mosquitos. its alright if you find yourself out that way and feel like walking or biking through the woods or along the beach. other than that, theres not much out there at all but trees and the occasional feral pig, wild horse, or snake. anyway, heres a few pics. | | | that would be a cottonmouth. i looked it up. theyre poisonous and deadly. theyre supposed to be aggressive too but this one started slithering away as soon as i approached to take its picture. i think snakes are awesome. as long as i dont ever run across a pissed off black mamba, im good.

Yeah, cottonmouths suck. I once went on a 6-mile walk with no water and there were cottonmouths everywhere. It was so dry.

| | | They aren't really deadly...very few actually die from their bite. [last edit 9/13/2006 2:07 PM by res_novae - edited 1 times]

well, thats slightly comforting. haha. im no snake expert. i was just going by what i read. in any case, getting bit by a snake 8 miles from the nearest person isnt high on my 'things to do' list.
blah blah. |
