|  | | | I recently had a chance to get into a couple of abandoned homesteads around Taber Alberta. Here are some pix 
This one is right off of Hwy 36 between Taber and Vauxhall.
This one is out the range road beside Walmart in Taber toward NewAlta
Hope you enjoy them, I will post more here. I'm talking to a local farmer about getting access to a full homestead, with all the old corrals and outbuildings for a photo op. I'll post them as soon as I get them!

| | | | Great photos, what a place; real Canadian rural history, and to think there's a Wally World right next door. At least the homestead didn't get torn down. I like the first and the fourth especially, (from the second location). The fourth is almost colorless except for the walls. Kind of odd, and gives a nice vintage look to the photo, matching the subject. And that deco heater?...nice.
In the first series, the the fourth and eighth of the fields and remains, are my favs.

I have also heard that just north of dinosaur provincial park on the red deer river there is supposed to be some abandoned forts and trading posts anyone ever hear of this? keep the pics coming.

There are some abandoned sites along the red deer river, but not really sure where, I'll see what I can find out. As for Hwy 61, I need to research where it goes, 36 & 3 come thru here, and no ghost towns along those routes. I am however going to take some time to check out the abandoned Alberta Dehydrators plant in Vauxhall over the next couple of months, work depending.

The first site was actually an original homestead when they were first colonizing the area. It dates back quite almost 200 years the second I believe is only about 90 yrs old. Was really cool, the first is a heritage site and I damn near got myself snakebit, bring high steeltoes!
