that time cube page creeps me out, is it supposed to make any sense?

Nah, it's not. That guy's either a quack fucking with you, or purely delusional and schizophrenic. It's a great example of pseudomathematics though, kind of like the time me and my friends tried a few sets of equations while treating infinity as a number, and got some weird stuff like 1=2=infinity, etc.

I wasn't going to post this screen shot, in the interests of keeping peace. But what the hell. I'm a bit tired of being accused of being a liar. It's not the first time they've stolen my pictures, and probably won't be the last.

They're crediting you with being the first to do something, and you're mad that in doing so they used one of your photos. Classy.

Yes, they should have asked your permission. No, it does not make you the victim of much of anything except your own desire to present yourself as a victim.

The article in question was written by one of the website's members, not the website owners.

You've just breached the copyright of the website in question by posting the page shot as there is not only your photo there but someone's original text included. Did you ask their permission before replicating it here?

You have said that you posted this because you are 'tired of being accused of being a liar' however, it's evident that this thread had died off with your previous post on 2/9 when you wrote 'The picture of my Lada on a web site from another UE organisation has now been removed so I guess they got my email and took action. It's now a non issue, which pretty much is a good, no fuss outcome.'

Apparently not.

It's interesting to note that the website received no email from you about the photo in question. It was only noticed at all as another user told the website owners about this thread on UER. The correct action for any suspected breach of copyright is to directly contact the webmaster who can then take action on your behalf. If you have a concern in future, the correct action would be to contact webmaster @ .....

Panic-

You are doing nothing except desperately trying to create drama. Yes, a shot taken by you has appeared on another website. Yes, this is not nice. However, it is not a big deal. Over the years, i've seen your rants about other people "copying" your stuff or "stealing" your photos or whatever, and it just gets more annoying the more you do it. you clearly like having people pay attention to you and by casting your writing and your photos as something that people are desperate to steal, you are indulging your own fantasy that a lot of people want to pay attention to you... whether negative attention-- i.e. stealing your copyrighted work-- or positive attention.

(on a side note, it kind of reminds me of the simpsons episode where Bart and Milhouse go into the steam tunnels at school and Bart warns "We might get punished!" and Milhouse says "That's ok... Punishment is a form of attention!")

Anyway, my point is, you are just trying to make drama. Let me give you an example of a non-drama inducing way to approach issues where other people use your photos. Recently i found out that this website was using my photos without explicitly crediting me: http://www.bizarrene.com/

I did not find this out by repeatedly googling myself, by the way-- i myself am attention-hungry as well, but not quite THAT attention-hungry-- i only found out when one of the people on the site emailed me asking for more photos and maybe some collaborative writing. I then saw they were using my photos, and emailed back something on the order of: "Hmmm, looks interesting... but i am somewhat worried about your use of my photos taken from my website without crediting me or asking me first." I immediately got an email back saying:
"Dear Steve,
I deeply apologize for not asking for permission before using your images. That was very unprofessional of me. Would it be ok with you if I use your photos? I promise to watermark them with your name within 24hrs. Again I sincerely apologize for that and I am more than willing to make amends for my mistake."

I said sure, and a few days later-- without me writing back or creating any more drama-- i got the following:

"We haven't been able to watermark your images. I apologize for the delay. We're looking for the easiest way to do it while they're on the website, but we seem to be failing. If your name isn't posted onto the image within the next week or so, we'll either take the image down and repost with with a watermark or credit every photo in the comment section."

See? No drama. No bitchfests. Just two people acting decently. Try it out sometime.

The other thing to remember is that a low-res 72dpi image posted on the web has no use beyond being posted on the web. It cannot be sold for publication. Most copyrights of published material go somethign like this: "this work may not be reproduced, in part or in whole, by any means, except in the case of excerpts used for review." There is also a fairly widespread acceptance of credited quotations being used for academic or reference purposes. The use of your image on the cave clan site would fall into both categories... and this is in no way infringing on your copyright. It also has no chance of being mistaken for your own website, or of causing you financial loss due to stealing income (or in this traffic) from your website... both of which are prerequisites for most legal judgements of any true infringement of copyrighted or trademarked material. If someone takes a bunch of photos from you and uses them to generate traffic to their own site, you might have a legitimate complaint... but as demonstrated above, if you bother to act like a decent person for half a minute, most of these things can be solved very easily.

I also couldn't help but notice that another one of your recent posts-- your ranting about rumors of faked DB entries-- was equally content-less and also was clearly driven by nothing but a desire to create drama. All this drama-mongering is irritating. To quote you...

IT PISSES ME OFF!

p.s. for quite a long while in the late 1990s you used a screen-name of Jonathon Littel on mailing lists, trying to take on the persona of the author of the book "Bad Voltage," a cyberpunk novel partially set in the paris catacombs. (http://www.amazon....33?ie=UTF8&s=books) Perhaps it was done with real intent on your part to deceive and capitolize on the work of that author for your own benefit; perhaps not. Either way, that was pretty clearly much more of an infringement on someone else's work than any of the silly things you have brought up over the years of other people quoting or pasting from your website. Please stop.

Ahhh, the good old reliable pattern of Panic.

You bored buddy?

And now I'll probably be accused of dragging up the cave clan shit again. So if that happens, remember, they were stupid enough to use my picture without my permission, modified it to remove my copyright and posted it on to a web site where obviously some one would notice it sooner or later and point it out to me and then add "Photo courtesy of Panic!" to the bottom of it.

It just seems like, "Stop! Drama Time!" (apologies to MC Hammer).

Man, I was expecting something worse than them actually talking you up in a positive way.

Weirdness.
