I am sitting here watching Silent Hill (opinions of the quality not with standing). There is definatly a UE feel to the locations throughout the movie. Any other movies you can think of that would fall into that category?

I watched Freedom Land not too long ago. I liked the old building they were in when they were looking for the little boy.

The City of Lost Children.

I plan to bear Jean-Pierre Jeunet's illegitimate offspring. Watch this movie- or Delicatessen. Both are UE wonderlands.

Rooftops.

I love rooftops. I love just sitting up on abandonment roofs. So quiet and beautiful views, and nobody can get you.

Ya, I know, you were talking movies, and I totally wasn't there. I get distracted easy.

Yeah escape from NY was kinda UE but the buildings felt to new and used. In Silent hill the job they did making the buildings abandoned was pretty amazing. The set design was accurate enough to wonder if the researched vacant buildings here. I thought of a few more contemporary movies:

Saw 1
Saw 2
Hostel

Goonies?

Hell yes! Goonies absolutely.

And I also have to add any of those movies where either zombies or some terrible virus wipes out a city, or both. Like 28 Days Later, which, although it was an awful movie, had lovely abandonments.

This city is my jungle gym...Look at this big great world that we live in...There's lots of fun to be had on these streets...We can take a ride, just you and me...It's a jungle gym
