They are less likely to suspect you if you make up a reason that would embarass you. For example, to explain the q-tips you could act embarassed and explain that you have a sort of ear wax problem that requires you to carry them everywhere you go. Just a thought. As for a good lense cleaning thing those special little travel glasses cleaner towels work fantastic...I forgot what they are called and I don't know where to get them but they work great.
