I live in Liberty SC. I am wondering if any of you have ever heard of the SC Serial Killer Donald Pee Wee Gaskins..?????
A friend & I are doing research on Gaskins and his crimes. We are hoping to travel to the lower part of the state sometime in Sept to visit towns that Gaskins stayed in and maybe interview people that "might" have known him. He did a lot of traveling to Georgetown, Sumter, Leo, Lake City, Florence,etc as well as the coastal towns like Myrtle beach & Folly Beach areas. Very little is heard about him even here in South Carolina. We want to try to find out why.
I would LOVE to obtain photos of places that he traveled to. As well as pics of prisons he was in. Pee Wee Gaskins as a juvenile was sent the South carolina Reform School for Boys on National Cemetary Road east of Florence SC...,only a few miles from Leo where gaskins was born & grew up. He escaped several times only to get sent back. later on he was in trouble as an adult and sent to the South Carolina State Penitentiary in 1952 in Columbia. He also escaped from there a couple times. Later he served time in the Atlanta Federal Prison. After he got out, he swore he'd never spend time in any prison again.
Thats about when he discovered that if he just killed the people that crossed him, there would be no witnesses to his crimes. Thats when he started killing tons of people from around 1969-'80's.
Please let me know if you might know of any history on him. Or even if you might know someone else that might know anything on him. I'd LOVE to see pictures of the prison in Columbia as well as places in the towns I mentioned above. I can provide more info on specific spots if anyone thinks they might can find anything on Gaskins.
It would be very helpful.

| | | | Well, critter might have more info on Pee Wee Gaskins than I do, but I do have some pictures of what was left of the CCI prison:
CCI Prison Power Plant is still standing today.
CCI Prison Industries Building that was torn down a few years ago.
A friend of critter's worked on the documentary of the CCI prison which I believe included some information about Gaskins. If you check with the main library in Richland County, they should have a VHS copy of the documentary and some textual information as well.
