Graving = visiting cemeteries. Nothing says fun like an old, deserted, overgrown cemetery.

Hello all, after about a month or so of lurking I decided to join up.
Urban Exploration isn't really a new concept to me though, although the name is...we just called it by other names when we were kids.;)
Hope to contribute some useful information and learn something new in return.

Hi everyone! I’m Tami, 36, originally from SoCal, but lived in the Seattle area since ‘99. I have been exploring since I was a kid, although I’ve never gotten any pictures or anything – and no significant conquests – hey, I was a kid, you know?

One quick memory (as an adult): I remember years ago driving into downtown Los Angeles, on a quest for these archived land records (I’m a paralegal) for some case. My search took me into this (not abandoned) records department. I went in, gave my name to the disinterested woman at the front – she was seated in a 1940’s metal desk, with a typewriter (manual), antiquated paper-punch, stapler…. She took my name and gave me a slip with a number on it… I went down one aisle, and there were just stacks and stacks of records floor to ceiling… old yellowing boxes. I found the number I was looking for and grabbed the box. I remember thinking, if I died right here, how long would it take them to find me? The files had that old-paper smell, and I took them back to the lady copying. I wish I could remember what the hell the place was, or what I was looking for…. Because it had that UE feeling, kind of a warehouse for dead documents, stuck in some time-warp. This was in 1994, so I’m sure they’re all scanned onto digital media by now. Anyway, just one random memory!

Ever since I discovered other people who like the same thing, and there’s a real name for it, I’ve just explored vicariously through the photos and stories of other people’s adventures. Last year, while on the infiltration site, I found this board and registered. Been meaning to post ever since. I thought the introduce-yourself board is the best place to start!

I love photography, too, and now that I have a half-decent camera, I’m dying to get out there and find some places to explore and photograph!

The Seattle/Puget Sound area is way under-represented – where are all the abandoned places? There are tons back east, and seemingly in every other state except mine… anyone out there?

I do know of one abandoned barn, in Bothell…. It’s got a hella weird history, so I dragged a friend and we went to check it out. Didn’t go in, b/c it was pouring rain, and there were tons of weeds/thorns, and it was all boarded up. Mainly, though, my companion was convinced I’d gone nuts (not totally inaccurate) and he wanted to get out of there…. yeah, I know – maybe I should change my human landscape… Of course, it WAS the creepiest place I'd seen in years, maybe because I knew the history. If my friend was going to mess with me, and like grabbed the back of my neck or something - I'd have had a heart attack right there! Man - that would've been instant "trouser-chili"....

The barn’s still there, and I’ll have to post the weird history of it on one of the boards – but at the moment, I’m supposed to be actually "working", and the boss-man cometh! So it’s a story for another day.

I hope to meet a lot of similarly "gone-nuts" people who want to slog through mud and thorns...in pissing rain... "It don't get no better'n this, Cleetus!" Whoo-hoo!

Hey everyone, i'm Alex and i'm 18, British and currently at the University of Edinburgh working on a degree in Social and Economic History for the next 4 years.

I became interested in UE from the trips to Byberry me and my friends would make when i was in Philadelphia over the summer. I should be back in the US next summer for a couple of months. Hopefully, we're gonna drive cross country and it's my ambition to do some UE all along the way. If possible, it would be great to meet up with some of you guys and find your favourite hang outs and so forth.

I really look forward to expanding my knowledge of UE.

In Los Angeles? Not a chance. Technology has not yet reached the city government.

Sup Guys

I'm called the raptor. (Orlando, fl) I stumbled in while searching for an area to do some CQB. I've done some exploration back in tha day in my home town: drain systems, comm towers, etc. Have not seen too many people from Cent Fla. here, but will post some pics soon to share with everyone.

What's CQB?

Cheddar Quarter-pound Burger? Country Queer-Bait? Cattle Quenching Beverage? Caffeine Quail Boost? Captain Quaker's Bordello?

Eh?

It seemed like a good idea at the time...

I Just Signed Up.

My husband found your website and it intrigued us, since we both love Photography. We were doing a search for a location for paintball (not historic buildings/landmarks or phographable areas).

What primed our interest in UE is our love for historic structures/Old buildings/History and the art of Photography.

When I saw this website it brought back memories of touring Eastern State Penitentiary (http://www.easternstate.org/index2.html). I love old buildings and the history behind them. To capture history on film is remarkable. For fun I loved to tour old covered bridges in Lehigh valley and take pictures. I also toured cemeteries, historic buildings, & legendary landmarks in Bucks County PA such as the Van Sant Bridge http://www.phillyb...sts/article1.shtml) which I went with my easel to paint. I have photographed the abandoned 1740's Mountainside Inn on River Road in Point Pleasant, Pa. I loved this old abandoned church in Coryell's Ferry, now New Hope; it is an artisan colony and homes like the historic mansion at Bowmans Hill in Bucks County. I have also photographed..The Bridgetown Mill ruins. I spent free time photographing and researching.. Washington’s Crossing..Bucks County and New Hope Pennsylvania as well as historic landmarks such as Edgar Allen Poe's house.

This is so my idea of fun, grab a starbucks jump in the car, take my camera and explore. I'm kinda bummed there are not more members in my area. It’s been some time since I have done exploration but it has always been appealing to me since childhood.

I am gonna try and make the Splendid China location for sure.

I will be posting some pics as soon as I can find them..

Hello, I am Samtastic but you can call me Sam if you please.

Im not much of a photographer(I like to be in the photos =)). I am a student, still in high school, but I am studying tv production. I love exploring though I haven't had a chance to explore any abandoned places around here though I would love to. I have done news stories on haunted areas and things like that. For instance I recently did I story on Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Massachusetts(for some who dont know it is a very old cemetery in Concord, Massachusetts where a lot of war veterans are buried and there is Authors Ridge which is an area where some famous American authors are buried, Thoreau, Hawthorne, Emerson, Alcotts etc etc)

I soon hop to one day explore some of the many abandoned buildings around. I have been looking around on UER for a while before I decided to sign up and join in on the fun. =)

I'll take you for who you are if you take me for everything. <3

hey! im new to UE. My brother brought me to the site and he has been fascinated with this kindof stuff for a long time. I love looking for this kind of stuff because i am a photographer.

I live in a great place to share photos of some urban exploration.. My college is full of underground steam tunnels and all sorts of hidden treasures. Check out the rookie form to see some pics that i put up about Tunnels under my college.

Hi. I am from Lancaster, PA. I found this website from a link to the pictures of the Egyptian Compound in Georgia. I used to work in Philadelphia doing air sampling in buildings and I saw many old, abandoned buildings/factories.
