Hello everyone, and greetings from South Carolina! May I join in? I have been doing this kind of thing all of my life but not until recently had anyone ever given it a name for me!

In 1973 I found and went through the abandoned military base under the giant gun emplacements that used to guard the San Francisco harbor entrance during WWII... BEFORE they sealed most of it off and turned the rest into a park. (Back then there was still camouflage netting dangling from some of the trees!)

I've infiltrated numerous office buildings in Cleveland Ohio, discovering the old coal delivery tunnels under the streets that still connect several buildings together. (1970's) I was able to come up from below into any of three old theatres on Euclid Ave in Cleveland. I still remember the large show bills posted back stage with the signatures of cast and crew on them dating back into the 20's... A sight the general public isn't even aware is there.

I've "found" my way into the 'sealed off' levels deep under the currently active level in the Terminal Tower in Cleveland (Formerly a giant hub in our nation’s railroad system... Now only serving the local commuter trains and one Amtrak stop), where Pullman passenger cars still sit idly in total darkness and old store fronts, shops, restaurants, etc. line the dust laden tracks. Silent now for over 80 years.

The Cleveland 'Flats' (flood plane along the Cuyahoga River) are riddled with abandoned factories, foundries, slaughter houses and warehouses.

I’ve explored a giant sea-going freighter, which had been recently abandoned in preparation for being sunk to shore up a failing break wall.

I’ve never passed an abandoned building with out it 'calling' to me to come in and explore. I'm currently living in South Carolina and have developed an interest in old textile mills and such. I here tell there is an empty asylum on State property in Columbia, SC that is pretty well guarded and hard to get into... but not impossible, I'm told.

My wife wants to know when I'm going to grow up. I told her "When I get to the point my wheelchair won't fit through the passages!"

See you around the forum!

Hey people,
My name is Johnny, just moved to LA last month from SoCal, currently attending college at Cal State Northridge with a major in Deaf Studies (Sign Language). I found the website after searching for Urban Exploring on a search engine and decieded to give it a shot. I joined because my passion is photography, I eat, breathe and sleep photography and after finding an old church development in Malibu Canyon, I just HAD to find a website that offered advice/stories/information about sites and other things of that sort. I just didn't know there was such a huge following, and you know what, I'm very happy to see so many people involved in this! Anyways, just wanted to let everyone know that I'm down for exploring anywhere in LA and the outskirts of LA and will do my best to show up to events that are happening (kinda hard though without a car, but will get mine back in the next month or so). KEEP ME POSTED!

I am new here also. I am 16 and from Huntington, West Virginia. I love the thought of going into abandoned buildings. What got me into it and how I found this website. Is I started graffiti when I was 12 and ever since been hooked. I got this feeling from climbing buildings and getting on rooftops that no one else in there life will get to. So ever since I love climbing onto roofs, getting into abandoned buildings and the like.

I can't wait to make friends on here with everyone and maybe have some people help me out considering I am totally clueless on equipment. I would like to also get into photography so maybe you guys can show me some pointers and also help me find a camera to..lol

Hello all, I'm 21 currently residing in northern Etobicoke, Ontario (aka Rexdale) for school, but originally from Whitby. I've always loved exploring abandoned buildings or just investigating things or places seldom visited by the public. I love taking photos of these places and have turned out some pretty good shots with my little Canon Powershot A540. Only found this site after a photographer friend of mine was looking for locations to shoot and finally found a group of people with an interest in the dirty, old, and moldy. The highlight of Whitby was the Psych and i regret to say that I only visited a handful of times before it was torn down. I've been to numerous places around the Durham region and would like to continue this hobby in Rexdale so if anyone is ever up for it, drop a line. There's always time to explore.

whats goin on.

I'm "El Guerrouj" the fastest man on the face of the planet. Teamed up with "Aubrey" here in the Buckeye state. He likes old buildings, I like exploring and taking pictures. Cute.

Anywho, just wanted to introduce myself, hit me up anytime with advice on ANYTHING, I know nothing and want to know...everything.

Pretty psyched about the weather getting warmer around here, looking to get into this and be a "Full" member.

Whats Up Guys?

My name is Danny. I've been into exploring old building for a while now. I hang out at another forum and someone there told me to check this place out. I gotta admit I didnt think this was a big as it is, Ive been a member for about 4 hours now and have already got so much info. So far I've gone into a abandoned hospital, beer factory, and train station. My favorite from the three was the beer factory. There was so much stuff around it was like people just up and left. I look forward to finding some place to go to (I already found one) and getting some info.

Welcome to the site.

A word of advice: handouts are generally frowned upon on this site. Share locations you've been to, visit the chat, and get to know people. Once we're all more familiar with you, we'll be much more likely to share our locations too.

Howdy y'all. I'm in my second decade on this planet. I'm new to this site (bit obvious since I'm in the intro thread), but UE is a fun thing from my experience.

I've had only one previous UE experience (if you can even call it that), a little more than 10 years ago there was a Stern's department store that I explored. Being a young lad at the time I claimed that "I was lost" and one of the employees took me to the "Authorized Access" only area of the basement. The guy went to go talk to someone (I'm guessing) at which point I wandered out of the employee lunch room to explore.

The site is still active, but unfortunately the actual building has been renovated changing it from one big multilevel department store into a multi-level mall. The basement area that was once there has now been turned into stores.

Posse - do you come in peace?

I was on the site for about a year , coming and going not really having the bug like I do now, until I finally wrote in this thread. And yes, UE is very fun, educational, adventurous and all that in my experience as well. Welcome to you and to everybody new and looking to get infected with the ue bug (wow, how deep lol).

On avance toujours...
