Wow. It's been said about a hundred times in this thread, but fuck ethics. I'd push that thing home if I had to.
Actually, DeLoreans aren't incredibly valuable, considering how rare/unique they are, but damn, I've always wanted one in a bad way.
|
DeLoreans have that kitsch factor going for them. As a car, they were a failure. Too heavy, too underpowered... no development time and the spectre of John Deloreans fall. That's what made those cars somewhat nostalgic. Personally, out of the last set of photos, I saw a 53 or 54 Chevy that I'd saw a ball off for as well as that 56 or so Ford.

Yeah, performance figures were about the same as a mid 80s Corolla. And I'm not talking the SR-5 or GT-S.

| | | That thing is so generic econobox looking, it's hard to tell what it is, I'm gonna hazard a guess at a Ford Fiesta? around 1985 or so? Some of these young autophiles will nail it in a bit!! Or there is always that older guy Samurai?

Not exactly a car, But I found it sittin' all alone out in the desert. I remember seeing these on the cover of Popular Mechanics mags in the 60's

I remember those! I would probably have gone back for it. It would be a great addition to our farm.

Odd thing is, even the engine seems mostly intact. It looks like the only thing wrong is that someone snapped the filter off the carburetor. Oh, and judging from the cut pipes on the left, I think the radiator is gone, maybe the coils for the air conditioner. 1.
|
That's just unscrewed, maybe someone took the fuel injectors (that's a TBI 350) or was messing around trying to make it run. Regardless, to enlighten the non-experts, the fact alone that it is a 3/4 ton 4x4 DOES make it worth salvaging. Solid front and rear 8 lug axles and the truck is still essentially complete.
