Grass, Flame & Glassius on the road!

At the moment deciding which of the following cities we want to travel to:

Chicago, IL
Gary, IN
Milwaukee, WI

And if anyone has websites that features locations or useful information concerning these three towns, I'd like to check it out. This is the second to the last road trip of the year and my tripmates and myself want it to go well.

Thank you for any help you offer!

Chicago and Gary are very close together, so if you visit one you're almost visiting the other, really. Gary probably has more bang for your buck, in terms of low risk/high reward. Lots of cool buildings (a church, hotel, theatre, abandoned storefronts, etc.) are centrally located, and the security risk is non-existant.

There's a bunch of stuff in Chicago, too. For some reason, I know little of Milwaukee.

And if anyone has websites that features locations or useful information concerning these three towns, I'd like to check it out.

For various reason Chicagoland isn't that well represented in online UE sites. There's stuff here and there, but you gotta poke around a bit. I'll see if I can't dig a up a couple links...

edit: Okay, here's a few that'll maybe help...

http://winnipeg.ur...sout/Gary/gary.htm
http://winnipeg.ur.../Chicago/index.htm
http://www.chucksphotospot.com (but it's still "under construction" so I dunno if it'll help you much.)

Just doing a search on UER for "Gary Indiana" will turn up a lot: http://www.uer.ca/...ay=1&where=regular

If you click on the link in my signature, it'll take you to the local Chicagoland exploration forum. But I noticed Glassius already registered there, so you probably already knew about that.

Anyway, if it looks like you'll be heading our way, make sure you give us a shout.

Glass and I are in contact and he said he would make a post on the CRF.
He is researching Chicago and I'm researching Gary.

Thanks for the links, I hope to meet some local explorers while in there.

I just investigated the crime rates in Gary and Chicago -- I thought I lived in Murderapolis!

Now I'm thinking Canada or the UP. I'll get Flame's and Glass's opinion on this.

To quote Curious George: "I will say that Chicago still owns the Minneapolis though...where else in the Mid-West can a 12 year old try to mug you?"

Actually Gary is quite pleasant, and Chicago isn't so bad either. Now that you have announced your intentions, I'm sure someone from the local UE community will soon be in touch.
