| | Stairs in Seattle, WA Space Needle? < on 7/12/2006 7:34 PM >
| | | I spotted what looks like a long series of stairs inside the center part of the space needle. Anyone know about it? I couldn't find much info on the internet. Now, this is what I want to get into !

| | | i've been to the restaurant, but i don't know what you'd get to see inside that's all that different/exciting..? what do you think you can access from it, or is it just thrill of taking the long way up? or the climbing?

| | | I went to the touristy view deck part once, I had a long layover at SEATAC and felt like wasting money. There's some construction photos and info, including a cross section showing how the rotating resturant works, as well as showing the central fire escape stairs. There's not a whole lot of room up there, so any back hallways and service areas are going to be small and probably inhabited by staff during normal hours.

| | | Stairs are used as a Fire Escape. You can easily find doors leading to them once in the upper portion of the tower, but there are alarms and cameras everywhere. I actually was thinking about running down them on a recent trip to Seattle. The same goes for the CN Tower in Toronto, and the falls tower in Niagra Falls. Pretty much the same concept in all of them.

| | | I dont believe you can be punished for using a fire escape even if there is not a fire But you would have to be going DOWN....
