Haunted Sites in Eastern NC

Anyone know of any good places around here that are supposedly haunted? I'm looking for anything within a 2 hr. driving distance of the Wilmington/Jacksonville area. If you know of any cool spots, post 'em up!

Happy 4th everyone! Remember kids, make sure you find all of your fingers before making the drive to the ER. You'll need them to throw more fireworks after you're released.

...which is why i'm wearing it to work on the car. i think using your whole name as a username defines the 90's quite well. it makes me think of AOL and chat rooms with three people in them talking about peanut butter and dogs.

*rolls eyes* Always the bickering on forums.

ANYWAYS, back on topic here: I used to live in NC before I moved up here to CNY, and I can tell you a few places in the Outer Banks that are haunted. I don't know off hand how far adrive that is for you, however one place that is haunted is the old (one of many) Coast Guard lifesaving stations.

As you approach the Pamlico Sound bridge, (which is like 2 miles long) off to your right and set back, is a abandoned station, covered up by a huge sand dune. The sanddune allows entry by burying the fence that surrounds it. Years ago, I was able to crawl in and do some UEing there. I got some eerie readings inside. Spots of the lower floor where the galley is were cold...some were hot. The temp in there on a hot NC day was about 88, but some spots where a presence was felt, it was down to 58 degrees. My cellphone would drain, car had a hard time starting, etc. As soon as I walked in, there was this chalk board that faced the window. I am sure vandals wrote this, despite there being nothing to write with:

"Give up all hope if you enter here." Yeah, prob. kids or whatnot. I still know there is a presence there. From the cold spots, there were also very strange sounds coming from the upstairs. I didn't want to get caught, so I just left. If you ever go to the OBX, be sure and try to check one of them out. I worked at a place in Kill Devil Hills, called Keepers Galley. It was once a Lifesaving station as well.

No prob., mate. Hope you get a chance to see them. From what I was told, they were all build a mile apart from each other along the Outer Banks, being the "Graveyard of the Atlantic"; so they had to be around everywhere when a ship wrecked. They were all build around 1875, roughly and used to take lifeboats and row out to the wreck and bring back all survivors in the boats. Now imagine doing that in a rough surf, with no engines, helicoptors, etc...just man power, oars and a few lifeboats! The Coast Gaurd and Navy must of had some men with large arms.

Is there anything left behind in that coast guard building? Is it cool inside? I explored around it but didnt have a flashlight and it was pitch black inside so I didnt go in...

I'll be at the beach August 13-16 and might check it out some more.

Well if there is anything left behind (not just I don't loot in general) I would highly recommend leaving everything there. Simply because there are Navy personel who once in a blue moon come out at random times and check these places out...for vandalism, weather damage, that kind of thing. I was a gunnersmate in the Navy years back, and if they do catch somone looting, hehe, it would suck to be you. Besides most of the shit it too big to take anyways.

As far as the interior, yeah its way cool. There is asbestos, and some dust, but other than that; maybe just soft woodfloors. It looks real spooky inside, has that cool UE look to it. That creepy shit that attracts us types. I do reccomend checking them out...just look out for anyone. People down there are asses about calling. I say fuck it, they aren't doing anything with them, besides letting them rot. I say let people go in.

a few years back my friend got a call from his friends who were just leaving this place in wilson, and they were freaking out. they had just been to this place called acid park, that's supposedly mad haunted. what they were saying really convinced us that this place might be pretty scary. they were saying things like, the windmill turned directions on command, their car radio was doing odd things on the way out, the car supposedly got stuck in cruise controld and started accelerating uncontrollably, and other odd things, and the only realy it was believable was how histerical they all were, the only guy who was this the 3 girls was sobbing, unable to talk. so we took a trip from greensboro, checked it out. and were quite dissapointed. we had done our research before hand, read people saying that its just a folk art site. just google acid park nc and youll get plenty of info. spots prettyy wack if you ask me, but its the first thing tyhat came to mind of haunted nc.

one quick google find.

Im not looking for stuff left behind so I can loot it. I don't want to explore a building that is just empty rooms, I need something to photograph besides peeling paint.

Ahh, sorry, mate. If it all is the same, the kitchen is intact, furniture still remains, blinds, medicines, etc. Yeah, so you won't be bored...unless someone stripped it since then which I highly doubt. All the Navy and C.G. want to do is make sure it's still in good shape. Then they leave for another few months. I wouldn't worry about it. It is/was a great UE site, and with I could go back. I would also love to get some EMF and EVP readings there! I felt an entity there, and many cold spots. So..how much are infra-red cameras?
