yeah, im not going to lie, that is an airsoft gun, that abandonment is wayy to close to civilization for shenanigans of that magnitude. i do have a real AK, but would never bring it out. ny doesnt have patience for that. we were play fighting like little kids. incidentally while we were messing around, we ran into some pipe thieves and scared the bejeezus out of them and they ran off. we too took this time to exit. i keep it real lol. yes i know realistic guns in public settings blah blah blah. you dont use aks to shoot past 80 meters, you shoot them to fuck shit up. if i actually want to hit something, thats what the mosin is for.

team gay! gooo. (i dont take myself seriously, so dont think i think im some tatted and pierced badass. i dont.)

Haha, nice Hed. This is what we used in combat training....a bit more hard hitting.

OK, it was loaded, but a round was not chambered....and the safety was on AND I did intend to pull the trigger, which I did shortly thereafter.

Then why is your finger on the trigger? You should never have your finger on the trigger unless you intend to pull the trigger. *shakes head*

Well, there are places I would certainly NOT bring any weapons too, like pretty much ALL of the places I used to explore in Chicago and the surrounding area.

But out here I personally think it isn't a bad idea to bring some sort of weapon with you for protection.

As far as I can tell, cops don't patrol isolated desert ghost towns. So you might want to have something with you in case you encounter a drunk redneck or some other "hazard".

i dont understand....whats with the guns in abandonments? its safe to assume there are police on this site and is this really the image we want to give them?

they will now be expecting to encounter young people with loaded weapons in tactical gear.

if its a joke, i didnt get it

* i forgot to mention swords....wtf

Isn't large assault rifle complete witha bayonet a little much for someone whos fearing a drunk redneck? Wouldn't a small pistol or knife suffice? As far as myself and google can recal there havent really been any true to life 'hills have eyes' incidents. Granted its a cool picture anyways.

See, the problem here is CONTEXT. You guys that live in big cities have lots of things to think about before you go exploring, like vagrants, police, security, etc. Trust me, I remember, Chicago is loaded with exploring obstacles...

Now, I know it is hard to believe (I had a hard time believing it myself), but there are still places in the United States where there are NONE OF THE ABOVE present at most abandoned places. I had to drive 2.5 hours into the middle of nowhere for that location. Also, there are also still states (like the one I now live in) where it is perfectly legal to carry a loaded weapon (which is awesome).

That said, just the other day I was exploring another spot and there were two guys there blasting something with a shotgun...which DOES make me a little uneasy...thus, carrying my own piece is something I choose to do. In general, human beings are NOT to be trusted, especially when they are recklessly wielding firearms in the presence of other human beings.

Also, just so you know, these photos were actully taken for a new role playing game my little brother is working on. So there was a purpose...

Hopefully that helps explain things a little better...

Admittedly, I'm not a fan of the idea I have to worry more about running into a fellow explorer with a gun as opposed to resident vagrants or armed security.

Though the mace is still pretty funny.

See above post. I carry a 9 millie regularly. But one this occasion, the ak was along for the photos specifically.

But in answer to your quesion, no, large assault rifle complete with bayonet is not enough. You can never have too much firepower.

Trust me, the last thing I want to do is get into a real firefight in the middle of the desert.
