Back when I was going to college (UW-Stout) in Menomonie, WI I did quite a bit of exploring around town. There were just a couple of abandoned places and quite a few industrial areas that I explored.

Badger Metal Works, The Swiss Miss factory on Riverside Drive, the grain silo on 1st Ave W by the Swiss Miss factory, some abandoned building with a ton of rusty oil drums behind Riverside Park, some small abandoned buildings behind S Broadway, and some industrial area around the truck stop/diner on 94.

Kind of a long shot, but has anyone else done any exploring in this city?

I'll post some photos soon.

I have never been lost, but I will admit to being confused for several weeks.

That is sweet industriarts.
I'm actually attending college at Stout now (I like it) and have also tried to do a little urbexing around. I haven't really found anything though. I did trot around a little bit down by the Swiss Miss plant, but never managed to actually GET IN. The prime spot I'd like to hit is the Grocery store right on campus next the the Subway by Fleming Hall, but it's in such a crappy location, since that is where all the cops hang out. One of the windows got broken recently and is now boarded up, but I'm still kind of too spooked to actually go in because it's right out in the open where all the cops chill.
Since I'm sure you know Menomonie cops are notorious for mercilessly busting anybody for anything, would you mind giving me some tips and/or details on how to get around exploring the bigger stuff over there without getting caught? I've already had some bad experiences with the police over there and would prefer to avoid any further encounter =P Also any other locations you know of up there would be nice, thanks!

Ah, going to have to check some of this stuff out. One of my friends said there's some super long storm drain from this one park in the city also, fairly tall too. There's some stuff to check out where I live too(Eau Claire)

So that grocery store by Subway must have gone out of business. I can't even remember what it was called, but I used to shop there quite a bit. Yeah, the cops there are crazy...I knew someone who was walking down the street in broad daylight with a can of Barq's rootbeer and this cop pulled right up in his squad car, thinking that she had a beer.

There are some interesting industrial things on hwy 94 towards Eau Claire. By that gas station/truck stop/diner. There's a road by that diner which will take you over to some things. Just go on a Saturday or Sunday.

Also, Badger MetalWorks in the back is pretty cool. Tons of scraps and a crane.

The Swiss Miss factory is still in business so you won't be able to get in there...

That's all I can really think of.
