Fuck that, lets lift that bitch 2 feet with coil spring conversion, rig up six wheel drive, install 40 inch ground hawgs on 16 inch rims! Top it off with a full exterior roll cage and we are now talking! Looks like I got myself an RV "Beatch". In the winter, I'm sure there's a firetruck "track conversion" but I'm thinking this thing on 40 inch hawgs would go through almost any snowpack. Now that is a dukesmobile. I sort of had this Unimog as a model in mind:

| | | Is the correct term "deuce and a half" or did that apply to WW2 era half tracks? I think I'm right on this, but possibly not, and indeed that is a great truck. Military still uses a lot of Dodge Power Wagons correct? At least stateside?

| | | During Vietnam, is when they switched over to the Dodge Deisels. These here ( always look the same ) are GMCs from WWII, and yeah half trucks. Man, they are FUN to drive!!! I have no idea why they changed companies, maybe cost? The ones I rode in were Dodge's. Prob. more powerful than the GMC, too.

Deuce and a half was the weight classification of the vehicle (2 1/2 ton truck). There are also 5 ton units out there. We have one at our firehouse for forestry use when we have brush fires. Hell of a reliable truck and it will go just about anywhere you take it. We have the snorkel kit for ours and you can drive it across a river with the cab flooded and it will keep going. (Legal disclaimer: Not that we've done it because the oils from the truck can contaminate waterways.) The cool thing is that it has a multi fuel engine. You can mix gas, diesel, kerosene, etc and it will run on any of them. Hell, if you drink enough alcohol, you could probably piss in the tank and it would run on it.

| | | As a matter of fact, during both World Wars, the U.S. would steal liquor from some of the bombed out and shelled buildings when they were low on gas ( lol and high on stress ) and pour pure liquor into the tanks and the trucks would run. I found that out on a history site. Pretty cool, whish my car could do that without killing it.

Hey, that's pretty neat! You see that kind of stuff in the movies or on tv. Who knew it actually worked in something?
I haven't lost my mind. It's backed up on disk somewhere. |

| | | LOL, one thing Hollywood was actually accurate about. That's RARE. It's funny, a buddy of mine who was over in Russia during the Cold War, said they would take Vodka from shelled buildings and use them as gas. I thought that was cool, but I choose to drink it instead, now that I'm out. hehe. Yeah, those personel carrier and supply trucks could burn almost anything....well still can.
