abandoned marine shop in Norfolk, VA

Hi, everyone. I've been away for awhile - what with moving, finals, and a crazy summer class schedule, I unfortunately haven't had time to do much UEing. But I'm back, and I've got pictures! This is the old marine shop in Norfolk, Virginia. I know this place has been "done" before, but I hadn't seen it yet, and I really wanted to check it out

So without further ado, I give you...the Norfolk Marine Shops!

Yes, that tree has actually grown up from the INSIDE of the building!

These bricks are on the outside of the building. They look as though they have been corroded by something.

This is an overgrown lot between two of the buildings. Look carefully and you can see the clipper ship out on the river.

The following series are the street-facing doors of the some the old shops. There is some very interesting artwork on some of them.

This place is huge. I saw most of it, but didn't get to spend as much time poking around as would have liked because there was somebody else in there. It looks as though it has been abandoned for many years, as evidenced by the full-grown trees and shrubbery on the inside of the building. This place offers an interesting contrast - on the front side of it is a busy street with other companies and construction, but in the rear of it is still and quiet, with nothing going on.

I hope you all enjoyed my pictures. Sorry if there's too many...I just love taking them.

edit: added one more pic

Wow... Where is this in Norfolk? Being an average joe type member I can only see demolished sites nothing else in the site search.
