| | Tacoma Underground? < on 6/14/2006 4:09 PM >
| | | Years ago I was told by several people that there exhist an underground or tunnel system under Downtown Tacoma. Does anyone know if there is any truth or validity to this and if so how you'd go about getting in. Jeremy

| | | While I would love to find one of these tunnels, the facts seem to be dispiriting. The point of my comment was to prevent anyone with pertinent knowledge from posting any entrances. If someone does have such information, I do hope they will afford us the opportunity to meet them and discuss such things further.

| | | It is possible for tunnels to exist and no one know about them. The city of Chicago had tunnels they had forgotten about, until they flooded them.

| | | Hey Not in alaska, in fact i'm in Norway, Trondheim. Here we have underground tunnels, under the university campuses (proven, everyone's been there and "done that".. hehe) but there are also rumors about tunnels under the old city. It's been here over 1000 (yes, a THOUSAND years.) already, so why not. I've seen and heard things that indicate this may be true, like walking the city you can barely see into the basements of some of the oldest buildings, from the street outside, we have seen security guards PATROLLING down there, and security guards entering a room in the basement of one store, and have left the store only to be met on the entrance steps again, by the same guards, without them having exited the room again. Also in the basement of a book-store, there was a totally blocked by crates, security-marked and locked door, with the sound of probably a repeater station coming from inside it, that typical radio chatter. But the problem is, there is no use in having the speaker on, if the station is unattended. So there must have been another entrance, because it was NOT in the store. The room was almost directly under the street, from the way it was facing. I was gonna do a report about it, but I don't like to venture into places like that unarmed, so I am waiting for my precious USP lisence If it's not official, it's not supposed to be there, so it's a free-for-all. Legend has it that munks made tunnels from the monastery on the island right outside the city, and in to shore, which is kind of far-fetched, although only about 500 yards distance, but they may have built other tunnels, under the city itself. Also there is this like 200 year old public lavatory under one street near the church and kings leisure house, which was closed down about 10-15 years ago, without reason, but it's still there, it's just cordoned off with a piece of chain. People say the bums live down there now, an even better reason to wait for my 9mm. But supposedly there was a cave-in of a wall, which opened up into the secret tunnels, and THAT'S why it was closed, according to "some people". So I will check it out in a couple of weeks, unless my work becomes to all-consuming by then.
You wouldn't believe me if I told you. |

| | | Tacoma doesn't have an underground, trust me. Seattle only has its underground because of the fire.

| | | A large tunnel system does exist in downtown bellingham however.... a short trip to the north for you all... If your walking through downtown bellinham such as on state, holly, or railroad street every so often you'll see glass bricks in the side walks... kind of a blueish green colored glass.... these provide natural light to the tunnel system just below the side walks... many stories exist of homeless coming through walls in business's basement in the b-ham downtown area as well...

This is a different Bellingham tunnel, but I like the last line in this caption. Little Tanner is a future explorer!
