| | | Damned interesting! I'm going to go with military, just because the construction looks right. Whats the internal square footage approximately? I see a lot of doors, and the place looks really large. Any obvious air vents or small cap structures on the hill it is built into? I don't recognize the birdman on the world logo, but it sure looks like a troop or squadron emblem to me. The last photo looks like a vision port at almost ground level, unless the structure has been partially buried. Also, what's around it? I know your a researcher type, so you must have some inkling of what else is around that might be related, even if you don't want to post it here. If you haven't found anything else yet, keep checking, because I don't think something like that would just be sitting alone. I'm sticking with military, probably Air Force, and I don't know quite why I believe that, I just do. Doesn't really have that monolithic quality of most Army works. Anyway, nice find, and keep us informed.
I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread. |

| | | I served five years in the U.S. Air Force during the late 90's working with munitions. During that time everyone had to do considerable chem warfare training, especially during the time I served in Saudi and Korea. Having said this, I agree that the blue symbol is a chemical suit symbol. That symbol combined with the layout gives me the impression this was a chem warfare decontamination bunker (which is a safe place to go to take off your contaminated chem suit, rest, eat, and suit up again to go back out to the contaminated environment. I had to stay a couple of long nights in one to simulate decontamination during a chem war exercise in Korea. Because it is in Dallas it was probably built during the 40's or 50's as part of the industrial military complex going on in Texas during that time and it was likely used for training purposes.

| | | I'd have to say that the blue plate looks to be from the Hamilton "Star Wars" collection. It seems to be the "Stormtrooper" circa 1992. The later versions had a collage of different poses. Too bad it's in such poor condition and has no COA. It's very rare. I can't even find a photo of the original. Here's the newer version:

| | | First one looks like some type of train trestle or drain cause it looks like I can trees and stuff on the other side, second one just looks like some random graffiti, thrid one looks like pretty cool hallway somewhere, fourth looks like a typical curb inlet thats been half demolished and covered over. Oh, and the four shots almost seem to be from different places.

| | | Being ex military myself, I would have to agree that it's probably a decontamination bunker or fallout shelter.

| | | I thought I'd be able to figure it out based on the unit insignia, but after having consumed about 3 hours consulting every FUDS reference I could find, I'm quitting. This may point the way; http://hq.environm...ds05/html/ftx.html ACE list of FUDS sites in Texas. Having no idea about the specific location other than "dallas" I had to give up. There was one listed that referenced a site dedicated to storing depleted uranium, so I was thinking "ordinance disposal" but there are several ex proving grounds listed as well, most of them near Former or active camps (or guard stations). My first thought was something to do with Nike DF70, but that is on Camp Wolton premises, although I believe that is decommed as well, and you'd know if that was where you were. The unit insignia (if that is what it is) will be the key. Good luck. With no other specifics, I'm out of ideas.
I got your tour winner right here pussies, at least he'd crash out trying. |
