| | Various things in the mid-atlantic neighboorhood < on 5/31/2006 11:00 PM >
| | | Some pictures I took from this past weekend, some of it was just luck at spotting it from the road and some involved some research. First stop was an old gas station, not very exciting except some newspapers from 1964 and some vintage oil cans. I also got chased into the briar patch by some guy, something about get off his property!! Next stop was a seed factory, wasn't abandoned but empty and being renovated was fun to figure out a way in and run around in there for a while. Then we found another factory/office type building, kind of reminded me of that Simpson's episode where Bart buys a factory. It was fun to run around and tiptoe over the dead pigeons, seems like it was also a place where garage sale rejects went to die. Stopped briefly to take a picture of a sanitorium turned into a low security prison, how low you ask?! There were curtains instead of bars on the windows. The next day, after a quick trip to a field full of abandoned vintage cars, we found a what I think was a state school but I'm still looking into it, it was a nice old brick building. Couldn't find a way in, at least not during the day with a cop across the street and neighbours gawking at us. Luckily there was an abandoned high school right next door, which was pretty bad ass, there was a fire sometime in the mid-nineties so had to walk real careful in some spots, ohhh and then there was the massive amount of asbestos falling from the ceiling. Next we went through a fog and didn't know where we were but we ended up at some massive abandoned building, it was so foggy I can't remember the name. Anyways...holy crap...very nice made me drool, got caught by security dude but he let us have the run of the grounds, lots of amazing buildings to check out..I took me two hours to find an entry point, but didn't get very far, by that time it was getting dark and it's a long drive out of the fog...but ohhh yes I will be back. Anyways this is not my portfolio stuff I'll send it elsewhere to be critiqued, just some scouting shots I thought might be of interest. Cheers, Brier Rabbit [last edit 6/20/2006 9:44 PM by Darkwolf - edited 1 times]

| | | Hey, I was just there a week ago. A fair amount of people working in and around the building, plus I got distracted by a biiigggg-ass storm drain nearby.

| | | There was no one around when I was there, probably because it was a holiday weekend, that whole area was like a ghost town. Was sad about the renovation I really want to get into a factory. Glad you found some good drains.

| | | This one just about broke my heart, got in but the camera's kept me out of the building, anyways if you've been in would love to hear what it was like, too bad they are tearing it down, was at least really amazing to photograph the outside. Also I'd be up for checking out Baltimore sometime if anyone is interested

| | | Thanks Cybercat! State School might take some doing, pretty boarded up, I might have to use my climbing shoes to get in, but I will definetly be making another attempt.

| | | Its no surprise; on some of the older message boards like Xydexx Modern ruins, totally bare bones shit, that is how it's done just say "does anyone know how to get to (fill in the blank)". No point in beating up someone just because he/she doesn't know how this clusterfuck works. I used to look at Xydexx all the time, it was so basic, but the good part was that the people were extremely friendly, and NOONE made any pretenses about being anything approaching special, which is more than I can say for this place. For christs sake, the guy was hoping for some help like he is used to. He didn't think his response would play out like a movie.
I got your tour winner right here pussies, at least he'd crash out trying. |

| | | Well now you've taken our few snide remarks and done turned them into drama. And that is what the UE community is really about. Look I understand that noobs can't help being noobs. I was new to UE once too, though I'd like to think that I learned to do my own research before I came to UER. But in any case, I'm fine with noobs being themselves. But I reserve the right to be a bitter old fart who gripes at everything the noobs do. They'll just have to come to understand that its the way I am.

| | | Point is Caput, I don't believe this guy is a noob; at least not to the online bullshit; in truth I think he embodies what it's all about. He is inquisitive, and the forums he is used to are receptive, and you don't have to speak code to do it.

| | | Inquisitive to me means doing research on your own. When I think 'inquisitive', its not 'Hey, that looks neat, tell me where it is please?' It has nothing to do with speaking in code. I just think to come right out and ask for locations in a public forum is faintly rude. Do I expect people to know that when they first come to this forum? No, I expect them to learn it, after they are gently mocked.

| | | true this Caput; Just looking at where I came from. and not used to looking at a pretty website. When you didn't know about a place you just asked. In this case it's a collection of shit, probably not documented.
