| | Concrete Factory < on 5/29/2006 6:57 PM >
| | | It looks like nobody has posted anything about this place, which I think is actually called the Washington Portland Cement Plant Site, in none other than Concrete, WA. It's a cool, sorta spooky place, and has a great view of Lake Shannon as well. Anyways, here's some pics.

thanks, a friend told me about it. this place was actually kind of hard for me to find. While it is a small town, it is off the main road, and down a gravel road with various forks.

| | | As for directions to the place I showed above. Drive west on Highway 20 from Burlington about 40 min. It's a nice drive. Keep an eye open after you pass the sherriff station, as there is sometimes a heard of elk, in the field on the right, though I always seem to come at the wrong time. Entering Concrete, drive over the bridge, and take a left on Everett. Go straight up onto the narrow paved road which turns to gravel. Here's where I have trouble with directions. Lake Shannon is on your left. There are several roads that will turn down towards it, and one road that ends at a blue gate. That is where I park, and it is a very short walk to the factory from there. The road also wraps around with gates that might allow access directly to the factory, but I don't know which ones. DRIVE CAREFULLY!!!! One of these roads drops several feet suddenly, which I learned the hard way, and there is other traffic. So be carefull, and enjoy! --Todd

| | | Concrete, WA looks like an interesting place to explore. I dug up this article which shows some other sites, such as an abandoned school: http://seattletime...01/0701/cover.html I'm going to be heading up there tomorrow morning. Cody.

| | | "If you come to a fork in the road, take it". Yogi Berra Nice photos, that town has been made sorta famous in the Di Niro, Ellen Barkin and Di Capprio film 'This Boys Life' (before the lad got totally whorld famous) A dark film, but great acting and historic look; Concrete lives! (although it was majorly shot up here in B.C., hey, "I just cut the hair"...) B.B. Thornton from The Man Who Wasn't There.

| | | We went to that factory today but it was all boarded up with steel in every possible place. So it made it hard to get in, it didn't exactly stop us though.
