Hey! is this, by any chance at the north end of the lake? If so, you've found the Sam Bass caves. We used to go there all the time when we were kids and I started looking for it a few years ago and so many things have changed that I couldn't find it. IM me some coordinates if you have them.

these are on the southlake shore, we got to them by walking from the top of carroll . and according to the city, these fall under Bob Jones Park, and as im a board member, i have partial control of the caves <3 im going to show the other members of the board the cave so we can protect it from dumbass residents like the ones that built the houses on the cliff above it and claim ownership now.

Thanks for the info. I grew up in grapevine and have been trying to figure out where those caves were for years. Used to go there as a kid when there weren't any houses around. I was doing a google search when I pulled this up.
Those caves used to have carvings from the fifties when my dad went to grapevine high. I'm going to go check it out tomorrow.
Thanks again.

Yeah,
We went out there today. it has really changed. I can't believe those people built a house on top of that place. As far as I know that is core of engineers property and has been forever. But the trek out there was beautiful. I picked a half gallon of blackberries. The wildlife and the flowers were great. almost stepped on a snake. My son fell in the creek.

oh you took the bob jones trail i assume? anyway, that property is corp. but is leased to the bob jones nature center along with the rest of the park. there is a shorter way to go along the lake, by taking the trail at the end of Murphy, i think. whatever carroll turns into when you go north.

if you want to see the most wild blackberries right now, go to the small lake behind the spillway for grapevine lake, the entire area surrounding it is covered in the biggest blackberries youve ever seen.

Okie. BTW, I know the general area where those caves are located. My dad got married at Lonesome Dove Ranch last year.

cool, you can see the ranch from the area of the caves, and you can get there by taking some trails down to the lake from the end of that street that carroll turns into. whatsitcalled. just take a left from carroll and go to in end col-de-sac. it will feel like youre walking on ppls property casue they have all there stuff out there on the shore, but its corps prop.
