Z1 and I were talking this afternoon and we were kinda joking around. We said it would be cool if the police hired us as UEr's and trained and paid us to go into confined spaces such as drains to look for evidence and what not. They would also pay us to go in and explore abandoned buildings for stuff. Too bad our chances are slim.

Heh, I think they have robotical machines for that.

It was just a joke. The police would never hire college kids to go into confined spaces just to look for thing like we found.

i'm lovin this thread, i saved it to my favorites. good call on goin to the cops with your find. you just might bring some scumbag to justice ! you also just showed the cops that you're not a criminal and that if they do catch you someplace in the future, they would be more prone to letting you go. just remember the cops main reason for concern when we go some of the places we do, is our safety. as u mentioned in the original post, they were concerned for your safety as they inquired about your gear. always be careful and never travel alone. awesome find. and great pix, thanx !

cheers !

Actually we didn't search all the compartments, only the main one. There could have been mad dollars in there.

EDIT: I called the police station today. The officer I was supposed to talk to wasn't there. Bummer. I left him a message.

Props on giving the cops the info. And usually if you are honest with them, the cops will respect you for it and let you get by with more than if you try to hide something from them aka. what you were doing down there. In my dealing with the cops here I just tell them what I am doing and that I have no intention of hurting anything, just taking pics, they ask a few questions mostly out of their own curiosity and let me go my way with no problems.

I recently came across a pile of stolen property in a storm drain, and a pretty elaborate setup for keeping the stuff dry & moving goods in and out of the drain. I called the cops, and walked them up the drain to where the stuff was at. They were all very cool, and didn't seem to mind that I was crawling around in tunnels under the city (actually, I think I made drainers out of one or two of them).

So yeah, good call on contacting the authorities.

yea, good decision. The most i ever found was some empty shot gun shells, probably done by a few kids. I didn't read all the responses so somebody may have already commented, but I think this will definitely show ue in a positive light. Thanks.

The police won't talk to us, or anyone for that matter about it. They refuse to return any of my calls. My telecom professor with all the sweet hookups actually went to the station to talk to his friends about it. He couldn't get anything at all out of them. I think this is all kinda weird. What reason would they have to keep this kind of information? Did we find something that horrible?

They don't want to jeopardise there investigation, especially if they have linked the gun(s) to a killing. You see how fast info travels? Deal with the detective who's in charge, or police chief. Eventually they should satisfy your curiosity if your patient, and polite about the matter. I may take a while. I like to know too.

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.

If it was me in that drain and I found those guns I probably would have ran away as fast as possible. Good for you for actually turning it in and dealing with the cops.
