| | | It was established in 1871 and spans 264 acres. Some buildings are still active today, with over 800 patients and a staff of 1800: http://www.google....=0.005258,0.008068 WSH is supposed to be the second oldest state-run institution in Washington. http://www.soundpo...obotomy/page2.php3 Unfortunately, most of the older comlex has long been demolished. At least they've left it as park space though, rather than put up condos.
Anyone been there? [last edit 4/16/2006 7:24 PM by Coadey - edited 1 times]

| | | My wife and I went there years ago. The original building is all but demolished. Usually you can climb through the fence and look around but its interesting for about 5 minutes then you've seen it all. The complex across the street at Ft. Steilacoom is a much newer facility and was built in replacement of the original building which was obviously quite small by today's standards. You can go walking around the rest of the "park" and find debri and rubble everywhere old window grates things of that sort. Jeremy

I'd want to get my revenge too if I was her. Yes she was there twice during her life and was hospitalized in CA too. I know from someone very high up when she was there that her brain remained hole free.
