New UErs and Old House

My fiancé and I have been drooling over this whole urban exploration thingo since we stumbled across it about a month ago. We both have a love of history. Old crumbly buildings have long had a strong attraction for us.
I have been working with photography for quite a while and find the prospect of capturing some of these old structures on film...er, bytes...to be too much to pass up.

Today we went and poked around a crumbly old house in the middle of nowhere north of Atlanta. The house itself was entirely gutted. It looks to have been empty for many decades. We did not venture too far into it as the floor looked rather insubstantial. Disturbingly, the walls contained numerous shotgun blast holes.
Of great hazard was a large deep hole that looked to be a well. It was certainly wide enough to fit an adult and looked to be about thirty feet deep.

The woods surrounding the house were filled with interesting artifacts of all sorts; a large number of tricycles, several old Coca-Cola machines, a Kelvinator refrigerator from the '50's, a fractured toilet, and other household detritus.

So from Miss. V and myself, Hello! and enjoy these pics.

Cool intro and nice pics. Let us know when you're ready to come into the perimeter and hit some stuff. Or if you just want to meet up with some atlanta explorers for some drinks and some stories.

Thanks for all of the encouragement! We both got pretty fired up scouting a few sites and photographing this one. On that note, I cleaned up a few more pics. I don't know why but I was particularly fascinated by the tricycles.

I've seen more than one trike outside shanties. They're almost as ubiquitous as jars of pickled crap.

from what i've gathered, abandoned houses are required to have at least one rusted vehicle (whether it be tricycle, car, etc). My first Ue was at an abandoned house that we found had a tree with 3 old bikes nailed to the branches through the wheel-mounts.

don't stop dialing.
