I wanted to let you know of the event that is happening in Seattle. This will be a place to meet other explorers in the Puget Sound Region. Feel free to post any questions here. I would also recommend being prepared to go exploring afterwards.

Edit: Fixed link.

hey vision,

we talked about the last meet and you said I should wait for this one to make my drive worthwhile. well I sent you a PM, but I guess you didn't get it so I'm asking here.

Would this trip be worth the drive from oregon?

That was a good meeting, Thanks for coming. We had Enth, Panda-chan, Deuterium, Megankc, Junix, and myself there. After a nice get together, we went exploring around Seattle.
It was nice to meet everyone and I'm looking forward to next month's meeting.

Yeah, again, thank you vision, it was a great introduction. I gotta say though, you got pretty darn excited when you thought people were abound other than ourselves, we'll have to go back to the mill again sometime so we can get through it quick and explore everything. And sorry Deuterium to've hated on ya by not turnin around and goin back in.

If I had been their alone I would have tried to find them, and when we reached the central stairwell and couldnt hear anyone I new no one else was in the building. That cement tower amplifies every noise in the building, if you are in there you can be heard from that stairwell.

But

With all of you there, and I only know two good ways out of that building (and I have scoured the thing), I did not feel risking it was appropriate.

That chemical room was sort of scary to run through. I held my breath the whole time though What chemicals were in there?

I am guessing you dont want to know. alot of poison to keep rodents and bugs out of the four and some huge 10 gallon cans of something corrosive flammable and explosive

Thanks for the warning to just hold my breath there's chemicals w/o giving me those lovely details. See this is why I was paranoid about people flipping those huge electrical (?) handles/switches. I was concerned about a spark and then a big boom.

Im sorry..

I tend to have a cavalier attitude most of the time.

There are many dangers in desuetude buildings.

Incidentally, your health is in more danger from the pigeon droppings in the other building we visited. That stuff can give you one hell of a chest cold.
The first time I entered that building it had been sealed for some time and was stale. I was quite ill for about a week, difficulty breathing, weakness, low blood pressure.

Yeah as I said I can be paranoid about things at times. But what's your health if you've exploded?

I smelled decomposing matters even through my respirator. I might have to change out my P100 filters with 60926 cartridges which offers protection against acidic, organic and toxic gases in addition to P100 protection.

Finally got the afterhours fun posted to the DB.
Anyone want to suggest a good camera for taking night images. I think I need to invest in a second camera and a tripod.

Can't really beat the long exposure using a film SLR unless you want to drop a lot of dough for a DSLR. Big external flash is awesome where strong flash wouldn't cause an awesome. There aren't many affordable digital cameras that offers both manual focus and hot shoe.

What camera do you have now?

So has the Seattle meet up happened or was it postponed?

I'm going to be moving out there next feb/march, but will be checking out the area first sometime between now and then. So if it got postponed I would like to know when it is rescheduled to see if I can make it.

The Event that I posted did in fact happen. I'm not sure if there is another "meet up" for explorers in Seattle. And my event will happen again next month, so I'll be there.
