| | | I'm just wondering about the current state of Seven Mile Island in Port Perry. I'm thinking about going with a small group today. I can't find too much information on it's current state. Any tips on getting there? How's the activity there and so on. Thanks.

| | | Speaking of which... My sister, friend and I walked Pogue Road. Made it up to the bend in the road way down the trail, heard what we thought was a machine and started making our way back - too much mud. Anyway, there were machine/truck tracks the whole way down as well as fire pits and other assorted artifiacts. A lady scared us and was walking toward us from the end of the trail with her dog. We asked her what was at the end of the road and she said "just a laneway and the bush". Who knows. The pharmacist I work with says she thinks the "asylum" is on the island. Not the first time I've heard that theory.

| | | I was there a few years ago at a renaissance faire. It was easy to explore all the neat things on the property without looking too sneaky. Since the place is not completely abandoned, it's probably not wise to break into the buildings. But it's fantastic just viewing the grounds, so go anyway. And make sure to go further than just the main buildings. Beyond the driveway there are fields filled with treasure. If you follow a barely visible trail through the fields you can find a crazy garbage/gravel area with a beach.
