Rockville, Maryland Area, small group looking for some new spots to explore

Hello everyone, me and a few others were looking for some new places to check out in the montgomery county area, near rockville mostly. We've been through a few drains, and Walter Reed alot of times, also around the outside of Chestnut Lodge, curious to find some more locations to go into and perhaps meet other groups, there's only 3 of us with an occasional 4th person.

Well i dont know about sites near Rockville, but if dont mind traveling alittle south to Charles County, there are some antennas you may be intrested in. One is the NRL site i think is listed here, but the other is Maryland Point Witch is two large Antennas. If you contact me on AIM, Faroresbrokenpoe i will send you photos.

I live in takoma park and am also looking for some people to explore with. Maybe we could have a meetup sometime in may? There are some places in dc near the chesapeake bay worth exploring, though security gaurds are friggin everywhere right now.

I'm game.

Been lookin to meet up with people that're into stuff like this...

I goto my friends and say, "Hey, Wanna go poke around some abandoned buildings?" or, "I'm off to the scrap yard, wanna come poke around some beat up cars?"

The look at me like I'm a nut and unpause their video game or movie or whatever... Not to say that relaxing in front of the tube every once in a while is no good, but c'mon... It's a big world out there. I wanna get into it.

How about Glendale Hospital in Glendale, MD:

Or Rosewood Insane Asylum in Owings Mills?

Glendale is policed beyond heavily.. and they're heavy handed. I was lucky getting away with it once, but I didn't go inside. There are at least 7 buildings to go into but I would recommend doing it at night.

Rosewood was fun and we didn't get into trouble, but I've heard that they are arresting folks now. Beware of the pools of water, as power is still on!!

I don't know about Glen Dale you guys...seriously. If you are planning on going, i wouldn't spend much time in the main hospital, there are a few amazing photo ops, but its overwhelmed with graffiti and vandalized to no end. The children's hospital is much more out in the open, but more preserved and more worth it. The buildings right up on the side of the street, directly accross from the security guards house is well worth it to if you can sneak your way over there...that's just my opinion? most uer's will back me up...i grew up 15 minutes away, i know it like the back of my hand, probably been there a couple dozen times. Ps. The nrl satellite is amazing.

C1rc4, you've just made me rethink visiting chestnut lodge again, i was so dissapointed when i only got into one of the old office buildings when i went (i think they were from the 80's). What's the inside like? Is it worth the visit...im about an hour away, i believe. let me know!

Oh, btw glenn dale, for the record, has 23 buildings. Doesn't seem like it except they are all there and i don't think you have much to worry about if you know the right places to go

Baltimore County firefighters have a 2-alarm fire in Owings Mills under control.

It broke out in an abandoned building around 1:45 a.m. at the Old Rosewood training school and hospital.
A medic unit was driving by the building when they noticed the flames.

Up to 125 firefighters were called to the scene.
No one was inside the building and no one was hurt.

Reisterstown Road between Owings Mills Road and Painters Mill Boulevard was closed but is now reopen.

Chestnut Lodge is cool. The phone lines in the basement are live, and one even serves a fax machine somewhere on the premises. My new mission is to find that fax.

I don't know if you're up for going to Baltimore City, but there are a few locations there that are very cool, but not in the best neighborhoods. One of my favorites is the Ice Factory right next to the West Baltimore MARC train stop. No security, easy to get in. Main area partially burned down.

Probably goes to that active building used for maintenance/security, as the barn has been fixed up in order to house their stuff..

you have to be careful at glen dale - i grew up about 10 minutes from there and have been through many of the buildings - some of which require a grappling hook to get into - the reason i say to be careful is because there is a park police substation on the property and they patrol the area with dogs and DO NOT take kindly to visitors - just a word of warning.

I've never been to Chestnut Lodge...an old post says it's alarmed and there's work going on in it, is that still happening now? Seem like a pretty building.

I miss Glendale! I haven't been there in awhile. Honestly, I've never had a problem coming and going. I keep hearing people saying they can't get more then 10 feet away from their cars without being caught. Not that I'm the super ue-er, but how are these people trying to get in? I've been there countless times over the last 6+ years and never saw a cop once.

Welcome to UE'ing in MD!
You should move this conversation to the Maryland Board:

There are plenty of MD folks who would love to discuss this with all of you.

I'd like to check it out, but it's a private board...do I need to be invited?

I will cue MSB - he is the moderator for it.
He set it up to keep all of the Maryland UE folks on the same sheet of music.

Any chance I could get in on that? I'm dying to find more stuff out here (Baltimore-ish) than what I've already trekked out to. I always feel silly posting about ones I've found when I'm pretty sure people already know but aren't talking.
