| | | I'm just glad that the humidity and heat are gone. Finally a flannel (preferred piece of UE clothing) is comfortable again. Caput_58

Yeah, that's how it is in Birmingham. It's probably snowed three times in my entire life here, and all three times, it shut down the entire city for days. And we're talking about 2" total accumulation. The most I've ever seen is about a half foot. Of course, when I went to Vermont last, I managed to scare off the snow there too, so maybe it's just my amazing superpowers at work. The fun part is, it does ice a lot, and of course that totally shuts us down. But it's great for getting on top of garbage can lids and going sliding down the hilly roads... | | | The only problem I have with winter is that it gets dark at 5:30 making me explore in the dark and scout with whatever spare time I have during daylight. Other than that, I love the cold weather and snow, especially when exploring abandoned buildings. On the positive side, Winnipeg drain outlets are exposed during the winter as the water level drops six feet.

| | | A nice thing about the early darkness, at least here in Ontario, is that the law (as I understand it; others may know better) defines "trespassing at night" as trespassing after 9pm, regardless of season. So in the winter you have two or three potential hours of exploring in darkness before you risk being charged with the considerably more serious charge of trespassing at night.
