| | | All this assrape talk is giving me visuals. o_O As far as Underground, there are things nearby to see, but the actual Underground area was renovated a while back and is now crammed with stores, bars and too many people.

I figured out what's wrong with life: It's other people. |

Yeah Underground Atlanta is nothing enjoyable. Does anyone here remember the old Underground (Peach)? I thought it was a different location than the current one, but I may be wrong. Either way, the old one almost certainly no longer exists in any form. I DO remember going to the original Dante's Down the Hatch restaurant down there; An underground restaurant with a partial facsimile of a ship, and crocodiles in the water.

| | | I took this one class where the teacher told us the wonderful history of underground atlanta, and I could rant about it for hours (as could viavinci)about all the old railroad tracks and train stations that are/were there, buuuuut VERY long story short there's this arcade in underground that has Soul Calibur 2 and some of the locals are fking wicked. ...although...still no match for me.

| | | Hi I'm new here but I thought I'd comment on Underground. My dad was part of the construction crew that re-modeled underground for it's re-opening. While he was working there he explored the site and found lots of abandoned stuff. He took our family down there one weekend to show us some of the cooler thing he'd found. One was an office. I was a little young, but I think it was an accountants office. There were huge ledgers all over the place, and tons of register tape littering the halls. The offices walls were brick on the outside, and the inner walls top half were frosted glass while the bottom half were hardwood. There was an old glass water cooler there, along with a 50's bottled coke machine. Both items are now in my parents game room. The second was an old abandoned resturant. The doors to this place were removed and put in the trash, so we took those as well. They're awesome. Stained glass windows, and lots of detail work in the wood on the doors. The bar was really neat, very old but nicely built. Hardwood and brass everywhere. That experience really got my taste for exploring started. I've since explored quite a few abandoned factories out in Rockmart GA, along with some cemetaries and churches out there. A friend of mine lived on an old plantation there and we found several old slave houses that were in ruins, but still standing and had remained undisturbed for quite a while.

| | | Wow. Wow. Wow. Jarvis, I'm pretty sure I know who you are, as I was reading your post it gradually fell into place. I know the camp you're talking about and I suddenly cannot remember the name of the hosue but I do know it's referred to as "The Outpost" and it's a really nice hike getting there, very scenic. I went to that camp every year until a couple years back. Did you used to have a pretty big afro when you worked the climbing tower? And yeah, I'm starting to see that these local UE groups here are a lot like caving groups in that they are really kind of exclusive on who they let on to their places-- a quality I highly agree with. But yeah, there's lots of cool stuff around here it looks like. I live in Douglasville and there's a little bit of stuff to check out but it seems like Atlanta has the real stuff. Where are you at, man?
