ere were also a lot of concerts at Place des Nations in the years following Expo. I saw Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, Humble Pie, and Mahogany Rush.

In mid 80's (around 84-85) I saw Peter Gabriel...after a beautiful day,it started to rain just before the show..it was postponed to the following night...a gorgeous night with an incredible full moon...

The Place des Nations was already in a "border line" state of decay...

Technically, the Place des nations is still available for concerts and other activities. The Canadien de Montréal was supposed to have practises there in the winter a few years ago but it was way too cold for millionnaires players to go play outside like real hockey fans do.

As for the burned dome, it was incredibly easy to access it after the fire and all the way up to 1992, when the work started. Almost dangerously easy.

actually according to the cancellation notice it was montreal public security that cancelled the outdoor practice in 2004 because of cold weather, it would have been dangerous for the fans

From deep within my plastic Ziploc baggie of old concert ticket stubs...

Shows I've seen at Place des Nations:

- Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush (never have I ever been that stoned in my entire life)
- Electric Light Orchestra
- Peter Frampton (what was I thinking?)
- Supertramp

Shows I've seen on the floating stage at La Ronde:

- Stevie Ray Vaughan ($15, taxes in!)
- Tom Cochrane
- Kim Mitchell
- Bruce Cockburn

I've probably seen a few other acts at these venues too, but I don't have the ticket stubs (nor the brain cells) to prove it.

Man, the late 70s sure were a shitload of fun...

I gotta admit I ve never seen a show at La Ronde. What was that like? It was more like a nightclub situation if I recall correctly?

You can still catch shows there every summer. Those are outside show, not exactly a nightclub situation. More like a "fireworks" situation...

On dirait pas. La pluspart devaient etre trop jeunes j'imagine. Je me souviens etre aller nous saouler et prendre nos premieres brosses quelques fois le soir sur l'ile au debut 90's, mais la boule n'etait plus a l'abandon

the floating stage is on lac des dauphins, DKD paid for its refurbishing in the 80s, there used to be some great shows every summer at the garden of stars, it sat pretty much abandonned in the 90s

Denis Fortin (formerly of CKOI) used to do almost all of the DKD voicing.
