fuzzyspoon, going to the Central Terminal is not a bad idea. The means by which you do so can be good or bad. Good if you request a tour through the appropriate channels, which there is rarely an issue with, bad if you do so without permission, because you would almost definitely be caught, and the ability to get a tour makes it pointless.
If you're interested, there are some sites in Niagara Falls, NY and Buffalo that I could use help with.

If you were to research the BCT, you would see that it is in active restoration, and that weekend tours are available in warmer weather. Additionally, you would also see that various events are held there throughout the year. These people are trying to do something good, it's not nice to fuck with them.
If you were to search threads here related to BCT, you would see that Elegant is on the restoration committee. She says herself not to mess with trying to get in. Contact her, and she will arrange something for you. It's only respectful to do so.
All of this only applies to the main building though. The track level area and the building further away are not part of restoration nor owned by BCT restoration. Go nuts.

Buffalo firefighters this morning remained at the scene of a three-alarm fire in vacant industrial buildings on Tonawanda Street in the Black Rock section of the city.
More than 120 firefighters fought the raging inferno, which ignited just before sundown Sunday. They brought it under control just after 5 a.m. today. Firefighters remained at the scene today dousing hot spots at the site.
The fire created thick clouds of black smoke that could be seen from miles away. Fire officials said the blaze ignited inside a one-story building within a complex in the 100 block of Tonawanda and quickly spread to two other warehouse-type buildings.
One of the buildings partially collapsed. Authorities said damage was estimated at $750,000, although the collapsed section made it difficult to assess the damage.
Fire officials say the fire is suspicious and no injuries were reported.
