In the Melt Shop, there are offices perched high up near the center of the building.

The melt shop is located on the northern area of the property, ajacent to the scrap yard.

I haven't followed much on Atlas, but last I heard it had been bought (With what intentions I know not) and last time I was in there, (2 months ago?) there was a brand spanking new piece of equipment in one building, looked like it came in on a wide-load trailer it was HUGE... and new-paint-shiny!

I don't know what the end goal is, but something's still going down there.

On April 3rd it was sold again, something about paying backtaxes on the property, didn't really follow it.

I just happen to know the date, because it was the same day that I went to explore it again, this time taking along a camera and getting some photos.

Though seriously, that property is fecking huge, there's a tonne of stuff I didn't see.

I ventured into Atlas earlier today, and witnessed the most activity there that I had ever seen (since the closing), which ultimatly got us caught. In the end, they had about five guy's on foot, two vehicles, a forklift and an excavator after us, and strategically placed a van in our only point of exit. According to one security officer, they are in the initial phases of re-opening the plant under the new owners. They drove us around to the main entrance, and we had to take the half hour walk back to where I parked the car.

I do know for a fact that Atlas Steel does infact have a minimum of one guard on 24/7. They do infact have very powerful cameras and they do zoom, pan, and tilt. Mostly to areas where they know people will try to get in and steal things.

The guard has a white pick-up truck and does external patrols only, about once every two hours and the patrols take about 45 mins each.

The company which does security there does have Mobile Patrol Supervisors which pop around and shoot-the-breeze with the guards randomly and will sometime go on patrol with them if the supervisors are bored.

The guards have strict orders not to go into the buildings - call police.

As previously mentioned, Atlas was sold to a california company for $1M odd plus back taxes ($3.5M) they are currently working on the rolling mills area of the melt shop. I was by a week ago, and there were trucks parked in our freaking entrance. Went by for about 10 minutes earlier today, and it looks like they're clearing the rusted equipment out of the place. All I can say is, if that's ALL they've done in a month and a half, it's going to be months to years before they're ready to open. Good luck exploring, just don't go on a week day!

So, the most Southern part of the complex is already being torn down. Yesterday I took a trip to the melt shop (power has recently been cut to the northern part of the melt shop). I found the tunnel to the boiler house. The boiler house has been the most interesting find for me at Atlas to date. It's so well preserved, practically no vandalism. It's well lit (at night), and contains many interesting finds. Anyways, at the end of the tunnel, when you come up the stairs, I came face-to-face with a camera. Anyone know if these cameras are still monitored/functional? Just wondering. But for those who still wish to experience Atlas, you'd better hurry, because it doesn't look as though she'll be around for much longer.

Last time I was in the security office I checked out the monitor and yes the cameras were still being used. Not always monitored by a guard but they were recording. There is a room at the bottom of the stairs going up to the boilerhouse where there used to be a ladder to go up to the boilerhouse just out of sight of the camera. I don't know if the ladder is still there and/or if the door at the top of the ladder is locked.
