I really fail to see what is so interesting about this.

You explored an abandoned ghetto... WHOOPEE!

Funny how this has ALREADY gotten more replies than my Harbourfront LRT or Irwin Toys topics did, and those two locations were FAR more interesting than this garbage dump.

Not to mention, both of my locations were not exactly easily accessible... But a few months ago, there was nothing stopping you from walking around this place. I don't even see how this classifies as a location.

WoW! UR 2 HARDCORE!

I think I'm starting to see how this place works now... It's not the location that matters, but the person that posts it instead.

I can see your 2 locations in 3 years there rustblade, wooohooo your totally hardcore. Go do some exploring and quit whining and moaning that your locations didnt get the replies ours did. Baby want his bottle????? maybe if you explored more and stopped pissing in everyone cornflakes you would get the replies we get. This isnt a fuckin contest. Stop treating it as such.

I didnt think this "resorce" was used as a compeditive platform for fighting eachother. I thought it was about the inspiration of exploring togeather and sharing the feeling of UE with others. I came to this forum to share my love for UE, I still feel hesitant about how (some) people on here act. We share locations because we belive that others respect eachother, and that we as individuals could not possibly know about all the other locations without the imput of others. This is a community of "respectfull" explorers. (or atleast that is what I thought) It is not a compotition to post the locations first, but to post your *EXPERIENCE* of exploring the site. Even if many others have already seen the site that you are posting, many would still love to hear about what you thought and did. how you experienced the site. For new commers this allows them to get excited about visiting a location that you have talked about! I really appreciate those who post with enthusiasm, It brings something special. If you are looking for credit or Props or respect for finding all the best UE sites, GO FEED YOUR EGO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

The first time I visited whitby phyq, was like stepping on the moon. Even though thousands of people have been there before me, and have reported every little detail. They were all new to me, ever step, ever smell, and every feeling. That is why I UE. And that is why I are here.

Different strokes for different folks. Perhaps you need to get an icepack to get the swelling of that ego of yours down.

"Garbage dump"? Did your mom ever teach you the saying "One man's junk is another man's treasure"?

Please. My little sister's got more humility than you do, and she's 11.

Not meaning to be disrespectful, of course, but sometimes things tick me off.

I can see both sides of the story here.

First off,

Posted by IanK1968
I can see your 2 locations in 3 years there rustblade, wooohooo your totally hardcore.

Now. True, Rustblade may only have discovered two locations, but how many locations did he post stellar pics of? And it's QUALITY not QUANTITY. I've seen some people discover 10 or 20 locations, but they've all been boring, abandoned houses with 1 room, and a 1981 brown hustler on the floor. So quantity is no decider here.

I think I'm starting to see how this place works now... It's not the location that matters, but the person that posts it instead.

If you think this is the first time someone has left this board with that feeling, you're kidding yourself. There is a clique of about 10 people (on the Ontario side of the things) who get all the glitz and glory for mediocre to piss-poor finds. So I can understand this side of it aswell. The Irwin Toys inf (which I was with Rustblade on) was absolutely incredible, and ground-breaking, seeing as nobody else has had access.

EVER.

And hardly anything was said about it. We were both pretty pumped about finding it, and we both were very deflated when it was dismissed.

So, I think we should take a step back and look at what brought this situation about. Was there some inappropriate mud-slinging? Maybe. But I can understand where it's coming from. And if you take a few steps back, and look at it, you too may understand.

--EDIT--

By the way, I'm glad you two didn't run into shit down in that area of town. And you may think that my views on this place are skewed, that's fine. But I'm giving a "heads-up" because that part of town is known to be extra-shitty FOR A REASON. Cops don't get dispatched there to resolve an issue with a stolen bike. Keep that in mind.

--EDIT 2--

As for some other people's words:

http://www.nowtoro...09/news_story3.php
http://www.virtual...-Toronto-BR-1.html

And my personal favorite (and here's a quote, too!):
(taken from: http://www.answers.com/topic/regent-park )

Regent park is community where poverty, illiteracy, unemployment are concentrated. The community is plagued by gang violence, drug abuse, and prostitution. Abuse of government social services, apathy towards environment, and ethnic segregation prevail in Regent Park.

Now that you're armed with the information, YOU decide.

It shouldn't be about some reputation/contest. Though I have to say, Rustblade's posts were very noteworthy. Who has explored those cement silos since? Ultimately, it's about what you want to explore, I mean sometimes it's soooo boring in the Ontario forum with all the houses, but one simply can't denounce that. I mean I can see Regent Park as the "holy grail" for those house hunters, I can't see the excitement, and the drugs and prostitution stories are pretty jaded.
Once again, it is no contest. Half the fun is actually finding virgin sites...especially when it's as tight as it is in Torrana. Speaking of which, I hope to finally get out explore a virgin location I've been found this weekend potentially.

I completely agree. I look forward to their postings as they are two of the best. I also enjoy their descriptions and the overall depth of information with each posting....very educational to say the least.

Fedge and I decided to take a trip downtown to Regent park and take a look around. When we got there we where greeted by 4 pimps and 7 drug dealers. We where able to out run em until we bumped into a transvestite hooker named Buffy. She was scary man! she was able to throw Fedge over the fence into the abandoned part. I said screw this and ran for my life.

I was tackled by a 4 guys wanting my money. I handed over my $2 (which should by them a joint) and ran. I got to Parliament St. when 4 cops scream "What are you doing? stop now or I will shoot" I just said "oh shit" and ran the otherway. After dodging bullets, cops, pimps, hookers, robbers, druggies, drug dealers I went in to meet Fedge.

Once inside the building 21 squaters attacked us and killed Fedge and are probably eating his corpse right now. I took off, came home, uploaded my photos, made this location and thanked God I made it home alive.

Here is the location.

Enjoy.

At least the gangstas didn't steal your clothes, there were no dead Polish guys and no tanks of toxic waste!

At the risk of appearing rude, kindly fuck off. Your track record isn't exactly stellar, judging by your three year stint here on UER. Quit your negative pissing and moaning and GET THE FUCK OUT THERE EXPLORING AND POSTING LOCATIONS.

HAHHAHAHA.

My "track" record? What in the fuck does that mean? I've been here FAR LONGER than you have.

Edit: Oh, I see what you mean. My track record as in, the amount of location I have. Haha, not a contest my ass, hypocrite.

You're missing the whole point, genius. Your post has only gone FURTHER to prove my point. This ISN'T a contest. I am perfectly happy with my three locations. This isn't some race to go and start flooding the database which every available locations. Or maybe it is?

So the more locations you have in your list, the more respect you get? Is that how it works here?

I don't WANT to go out there and start adding every shitty location I've come accross, and have a large list, much like some people here. I look at your list and see abandoned houses. WOW!!!!!!!!

And IanK: You contradicted yourself. You say, "I can see your 2 locations in 3 years there rustblade, wooohooo your totally hardcore." Then you say this isn't a contest. Okay, so if its not a contest, why does my location count matter?

Lexi: One man's junk is another man's treasure... Maybe so. I just do not see anything interesting about exploring this place. So if I stated exploring the apartments at Lansdowne and Dupont, or the jungle at Chalkfarm Dr, and adding them to the UEDB, would people start Oooh and Ahhing? Doubtful.

Rustbucket, if you do not like a location/gallery, no one is forcing you to view them. That said, no one is also forcing you to reply with unprovoked and insulting comments in a thread about a location/gallery you find unappealing. Bottom line, as I've said before, is any hobby has sub-factions, of which some people will like and some will not. If you disagree with the style of locations/galleries, that is your right. If you disagree with the style of locations/galleries and then insult the creator of said locations/galleries, then you deserve whatever shit comes your way. My response was, and remains, kindly fuck off. Thank you very much.

I think all of you (those who are debating such a silly topic, of course) are taking the fun of ue-ing out of actual ue-ing.
Does it really matter that you come on a website and post photos of the places you've been? (I'm not in any form dissing the website - this place is great)
It's about exploring, not necessarily coming home and "anxiously" uploading pictures to boast/share what you've found. If this website wasn't around, I'm sure you'd still be pleased with what you've come across.
This shouldn't be about what locations are better than others, it should be about the enjoyment of going OUT and experiencing the locations for yourselves. Don't ruin someone else's UE pride.
If you want comments/praise/ego boosting goodness, you may as well post on another site - I suggest Myspace.

hmph.

Nice pictures of the site. Hopefully it would be possible to explore the other buildings in phase one before they get demolished. It appears that the next one should be 540 Dundas, as the plan calls for the demolition to head eastward.

I found this comment in one of my galleries:

This is very interesting - a desk, chair, some tanks of some sort of gas, containers. VERY INTERESTING! Good work! I'm impressed!!

Who the fuck do you think you are, asshole? Spamming my galleries with this shit? Do you see me doing this to your stuff?

I can take a picture of whatever the fuck I want to without you having to approve it, Mr. UE specialist.

Why don't you just keep your mouth shut if you don't have anything good to say?

And you know what, the picture IS interesting. FAR more interesting than any of the pics you have of shitty abandoned houses. So you might aswell keep doing your piss-poor explorations, its what you do best.
