| | | Condemned Slide. < on 2/5/2006 1:03 AM >
| | | When I found this in the park, at first I thought it would be a cinch to get inside, and bunches of fun too! Turns out I didnt come -nearly- prepared enough. Its a condemned playground slide from its appearance. The bottom was fenced off, the bottom entrance was welded shut and after climbing over the fence and up the slide, I found the top entrance to the stairwell was welded and locked as well. In the pictures you can't tell how big this was, It was huge. I stood shorter than the fence around the base. The bottom gate seemed to have had the lock broken off already, hence the welding job. I still managed to squeeze through the bars enough to see further within the stairwell. The hole in the middle isn't barred , it's just too high up for me to reach standing on the slide part, and I fell too. -Very- slick slide. I still wanna get in...
Someone set the sky on fire and I had a view of the burning city. Blue iced over blazed in a romance only angels dare. And the cathedral bells toll out the warning: "Here is now and now is cascading." As if the sky would burn and break open, pour out, in a brilliant display... of the end. -White Dog |

| | | I like some of the textures on that. Getting inside would be cool I'd bet. Can you make out what the graffitti said? They must have gotten in before the locks were put on. [last edit 2/5/2006 1:18 AM by Zensins - edited 1 times]

actually, I think they got in -after- the locks... and then they had to WELD it shut. *chuckles* thats the way it looks to me anyhow. The lock on the bottom had been broken off some time ago. The graffiti was just a bunch of names and I cant remember what came before "people" maybe "white"? Probably some sort of racial something or other.

Oh yeah... I used to play at this playground that was really old as a kid. There was one thing we called a "hippity hop" . It was four metal posts bent 90 degrees and met at the top to hold up a long spring that held up a see saw sort of thing... Like a bouncy inverted see saw. It was more like a skull cracker when you bounced too high into those poles above you... Another thing was the hampster wheel. Im -still- looking for another one of those. Yes. A human sized hampster wheel. Just imagine how much that could hurt if you got it going too fast.

oh. my. god. I want one! hahahaha...the visual I have as I sit here listening to my hamster in his wheel is quite amusing. I was just thinking though that there was this death trap of a park by my old junior high school. It had this huge 3 or 4 story rocket. You had to climb up a ladder into the bottom floor and then there were 2 or 3 "floors" above that. It was so rickety you could make it rock back and forth if you tried. I wonder if it's still there...I should really go get a picture if it is, it's quite impressive. I remember there were other things there that were probably equally dangerous, but I only remember the rocket.

Hmmmn... You are right. I upped the contrast just a teensy bit but I guess it didnt need it. The flash really lit up the colors in there and the Red on blue was very vivid. Thanks.

| | | They make playgrounds now that are safe. No slides higher than 2 feet, no wood, nowhere you can fall. It was so much more fun when there was an element of danger. Besides, kids need to learn to fall down. Wicked pics.
It seemed like a good idea at the time. |
