| | | Hey everyone, I’ve been on here a while, just I’m not usually much of a net poster, and am often busy anyway. I’m a filmmaker, and also very interested in urban exploring. I have a couple projects on the go and I’m aiming to combine the two interests. I’m hope to get a full membership so I can make full use of the UE side of things. I’ve been recommended, but it hasn’t come through yet. So I figured I could see if I could get the process moving faster if I put up pics of a few locations I know of, show people I’m not a fool trying to screw things up. Perhaps score some more recommendations along the way. =) Of course I have no idea if this is already in the database or not. This bridge is very close to Toronto and is simply epic. Is it in the full member database? It’s where it belongs for sure. I would love to add it and I have many more pictures.
This location is in Markham, it is out in the open, easy to find. But probably not that easy to get into, considering the fence, being completely boarded up and open land in all directions. I got a closer look before the fence went up, and it was locked tight. I’m sure it will eventually be torn down by the housing company building in the area. But right now it’s still up.
This place is at 16th Avenue and York Durham Line. Boarded up, I think the people that own it keep a regular check on it.
A picture of my two friends from when we went to the Don Valley Brickworks.
If anyone is interested in my latest film, a short world war 2 movie, you’re welcome to check out the website (www.the5thrangers.com). Of course, any more recommendations would be wonderful. =P Thanks for checking out my post. =) www.the5thrangers.com

| | | I've seen that house before on site (I'm in construction). I'm pretty sure it's being fenced off for further removal and relocation as part of some heritage law or something. I'm also into film/video, so if you ever want to shoot some stuff let me know. Just picked up my own cam finally.

| | | I am intrigued by the bridge, is it truly abandoned? If so, there might be other interesting locations nearby. It seems rather secluded, which is good. Maybe a small pointer as to where it might be? Not exact details, that takes the fun away, but give me an area to start looking...

| | | Thank you CowboyPenner. =) Lopix, if it has to be completely abandoned to be on here, then I guess it won’t work out, lol, because it is still in use. BUT, I figure that it is such a fun location that I’d put it up anyway. At least I find it fun, so I’m sure others could fun it fun as well. I’ve known about it for my entire life, the place is pretty damn huge, and close enough to the city to check out easily. BUT, and this is a pretty cool but, I do know of another railway bridge… which well…. IS completely abandoned. TWO actually. Both have the tracks removed, yet the bridge is still in place. I can’t claim to have found these or anything, I certainly didn’t. And these pictures were NOT taken by me, but I plan to visit this location sometime. These bridges are about 2-3 hours from Toronto, I’m guessing. They are a few kilometers from each other. Bridge One is right beside a road still in use.
Bridge Two is out in the middle of nowhere.

| | | Oh wow! Awesome contributions. They're so stately and functional... yet lonely. They remind me of the Roman Aquaducts.

| | | Thanks Axle, the movie took a lot of work, it's been paying off too. It's attracted some investors for future projects which is pretty cool. I checked out your site as well, lots of pictures of cool locations, I like the mills/factories the most. The burned down house look find of interesting too =)

| | | TheFirstCause, Glad to see you made it to full member. Welcome aboard cap'n. It still cracks me up running into people like you on here. I've run into a FEW people from our old school here. It's hillarious. Anyway, real nice pics. Where exactly in Markham is that bridge? By Cornel? -Cyn

| | | TheFirstCause's: Nice pictures. There are a couple of abandoned railway bridges just outside a small town called Frankford on the Trent River, locke #9, near Belleville Ontario. The bridges are a part of the Hastings heritage trail. One looks very much like the one you've posted and the other is an abandoned iron, steam driven swing bridge (it's quite beautiful). When I'm out there next I'll take a few pictures and post them. But it's serious fun crossing the bridges eh? Unless of course you're acrophobic.

| | | I'm almost 100% positive that Bridge One is in Chesley Ontario, though it doesn't look like that anymore. The town "renovated" the bridge a few years ago with railings and a walkway to make it safe, because people would walk across it anyways. My wife is from the area, and has been out on that trestle at midnight when she was in high school. I think I might have some more recent pictures of it somewhere around here, but not before the walkway was built. C. [last edit 3/12/2006 4:47 PM by Crossfire - edited 1 times]
