| | | (Not sure if this is up yet) This is really tragic... let the shitstorm begin. People sort of forgot about it after the kid miraculously survived the fall at the Fruen mill. http://www.startribune.com/462/story/212603.html [last edit 1/30/2006 1:31 PM by wolfsburg1971 - edited 1 times]

| | | This reminds me again of how I almost devastated my whole family and more with what could have happened to my two cousins and I in the draining accident. We were so amazingly lucky to live. Reading another story about an explorer who was not so fortunate really sucks. However, it's yet again a firm reminder that you REALLY have to understand the risks of what you're doing and take the necessary precautions. What will be really unfortunate is if she had been drinking before going up there. Alcohol + UE = Not smart.

| | | Seeing as how she left a party 45 minutes before dying I'm guessing she had been drinking. The spot is notorious for attracting college partiers. The police did not say anything about her friend being intoxicated though, so it's possible they weren't wasted.

| | | Where did it say anywhere that she was into ue? I'm thinking it has nothing to do with exploring and more to do with "i'm stupid drunk and climbing that shit sounds like fun" thing.
I've been feeling funny since I went in that open crypt. Not sure what it is. |

| | | Walking around and climbing stuff and the like is a form of exploring, whether your are sober enough or not to realize it. Sure, she likely was not a UEer, but she was still off exploring some dangerous place with someone else. And TCdrainer, as for my accident I made a long thread here long ago just after it happened. I'll try and dig it up sometime. I may even still have the raw story I typed several days later after it happened floating around.

Yeah because every other college student visiting this place or wanted to had nothing to do with it. She saw it on UER.

...while drunk. I'm sorry, but she was not adequately prepared for this, and she made a very bad decision that ended her life. Perhaps this will serve as another wakeup call that drinking obsessively (as stated in her profile) can lead to harsh judgements. We had a "I fell into a silo" incident after someone drank too much near my hometown. Boy survived, and it must have been some godgiven miracle, but he is still fucked up today with some permanent injuries. While I do feel sorry for her family and to her, she made this on her own decision and it was not a wise one. Let this be a lesson and a reminder of the consequences of drinking excessively and partaking a very risky activity that is already dangerous enough for people who are sober.

UER had nothing to do with this. It's a 10-story elevator in the middle of a residential neighborhood heavily populated by college students. It's visible for over a mile in every direction and the abundance of large tags on the top parts makes it fairly obvious that it's disused and that people have been getting in. People go there to party all the time. For as little as I'm a fan of things like the LDB and the overly public nature of some of the information on UER, this has nothing to do with it.

Exactly. People act like the only people that think about going into abandoned buildings are people that see it on the internet. The internet in general had little to nothing to do with it.
