Additional findings.

I couldn't originally explain a large amount of unintelligible plywood construction in the building. Someone took a lot of time to build some very useless walls and passages inside the existing halls and passages. I ventured into the very odd Thing in the center of the south half of the open area and found this.

These may have been part of a movie set. I LOVE old signage! The part about the Sand Point Naval Base is consistent with other findings however Building #11 was either a different building entirely or this building had more names than puff daddy. All of my pictures are from the single building. A bit of googling found <http://washington....ovies.com/RoseRed/> and "The interiors of the fictional Rose Red mansion were built at 300,000 square feet of warehouses and aircraft hangars in Magnuson Park (the former Sand Point Naval Air Station)." Completely consistent with other findings!

Are those funhouse stairs in pic #4 cause they sure are crooked.

I figured out what's wrong with life:
It's other people.

It is not large enough for paintball. It reminded me of a military obstacle course; but easy and small. Perhaps it was a boot camp for troubled toddlers.

Have you tried getting into the rec center/bowling alley building at Magnuson? I'm intrigued by it but haven't poked around.

Me again...Today I went to Magnuson Park cause my friend's sister was involved in this art sale thing. I think the 3rd weekend of this month they have a big seattle public library book sale in one of the old hangers.

the bowling alley has an open door on the side. There was a piece of wood someone put as a ramp down into the alley. Its totally graffitti'd and vandalized. Actualy, there was a short wooden door also to the left.

I'm just glad I had the chance to visit the Soundgarden sculpture (where the band got its name) before the area was closed off after 9/11. That was a real shame. They should have moved it, not fenced it off.

That must be the most broken into building in seattle then. Vision and I were there not long ago and the place was boarded up tight.

I understood it that these were firefighter training courses. We'd seen signs adn read logs and course times from the Fire Deptmt which were posted on the first lvl.

Anyone get into the loft?

I wouldnt have noticed that guy but it was the third time i had seen him while visiting that building. Although he did help me jup start my car, it was at three in the morning so it doesnt help my view of him much.

Definitely a "weird guy in the van"

Someones paranoid. I don't think it matters if your vehicle is seen near an abandoned building. I'm not causing damage to the building, I don't think the police will go out of their way to catch us, especially at a city park.

Who knows if that guy might be security. Just being seen doesn't matter, but if he's already flagged our cars he might call for backup and stake out the place when he sees our cars again but we're nowhere to be found outdoors.

I haven't been caught, albeit came very close a few times and I plan on keeping it that way.

What do you mean? That space adjacent to the suspended ceiling we went up on?

If so, it is connected to the same space above the two ends of the building and is easily accessible by several ladders. That is if you enjoy crawling around in a 4 foot attic coated in loose insulation from the turn of the century. Vision also spotted a door that opens to the roof on the north side. I have not been up on the roof. It may actually be worth entering that attic, but the cover up there is sparse. I think you would stand out on that huge domed roof.

Heh, not quite. It was a random level to one of the hangers that was only accessible by a ladder that started 10' off the ground. That was scary - a bit too rickity (not rickity at all for a very short ladder that TOUCHES THE GROUND - and when you're 30ft up it's even more scary. Remember that, Vision? You had to hold my hand the whole time.

Did you guys go back after the last monthly meet?
You should see the ladder on a campus building here where the ladder starts 40' off the ground and accessible only from a fire escape balcony.
