Urban movement reclaims abandoned buildings in Sao Paulo

There is something in the Guardian today about Moviementos de Sem-Teto de Centro, MSTC, an urban coalition that is an eight-year old foundation that reclaims the cities estimated 39,289 abandoned buildings as housing for urban homeless and low-income workers who work in the informal economy.
The focus is on one building, a 22-storey skyscraper ghetto that is now home to 468 families. they actually build shanty towns inside the abandoned office units.
This just seemed like a good urban exploration story, not only that but there is rather an absence of UE Brazil locations in the database, that i can see.

Urban Explorers always take the red pill...

If you read NO trespassing by Anders Corr you will get a better perspective of some of the squaters movements, land struggles, and rent strikes. He does cover quite a range of examples.

but they don't have the same definition of abandoned building as we do. Also , probably 32,000 of these so-called abandoned buildings are probably small abandoned barracks in favelas and other urban warzones.
