Nike Missle site, Phoenix MD?

Back many years ago in my youth there was a Nike Missle base that was behind a comunity center in Phoenix MD that was still accessable. I know the fire department used it for training for a while, and was wondering if it was still accessable?

I believe this one os now owned by some type of construction company. Its well fenced in and visible from the road. There is a lot of construction equiptment sitting back there and they prolly use the old silos/magazines for storage if the elevators still work. If not they are prolly flooded or full of trash.

Early to mid 90's was the last time I was there. The elevators did not work, however, the silo's were not flooded. There was stairwell access to them and the lock was commonly broken. If I remember and it has been years since I have been to the area, you would take warren road, and go left on padonia? then at the main light in town, you would go left..... and the community center would be on your right.

Now if you continued down the road there was another section on the right years and years ago, that was torn down.

Of all the nike sites left in MD... Some 24 or so most are totally trashed. Almost all the control centers have been torn down and all that remains of most of the launcher sites is the magazines/silos... most flooded, filed with dirt/trash.

I think this site http://www.urbanat...ions/05/loc05.html is one of the few MD facilities still in decent condition
