Just to be sure, you're saying that the building marked Massey on this map is actually Inglis and was never used at any time by Massey?

Interesting pic, where did you get it?

Yes unfortunetly and most if not all of the surrounding area on liberty was at one time during the war utilised and or owned by the them.

Its possible after the demise of Inglis it could have been used by MF as the sites have been used by quite a few people since Inglis was absorbed by Whirlpool.

I,m more interested in the historical value to be honest and have mostly focused on the war effort.

When are you stating MF used the facility and where did you get your info? Its still possible.

I'll post some links with some more info on the site when I get a second.

Google Maps (see text at bottom) and I photoshopped in the building names.

Do you have any weblinks to something that might show it's proper name?

If you have as look at the pics(from the 80's and late seventies) you will see the two sides of each company. INGLIS owned or utilised at one point most of the south side and Massey Harris(Ferguson)
the north. Where MH used to stand are condos and they are named the MASSEY HARRIS LOFTS.

The AR Williams site was also part of the old prison before being used for machinery manufacturing. There was even a gallows located in the the site. When you look at the interior pics and try to imagine a small cell block fitting in there. It makes sense by design.

INGLIS aquired all of the prison facilities and surrounding area for the war effort except some parts of the Irwin Toy factory which before that was a fabrics and case provider.

What is now the new grey building was also used by Inglis and is now going to be used by Metro police. I am referring to the land not the building. The buidling was made for some dot com company that slips my mind at the moment that went out of bussiness. Metro will be mostlikely using it as an addition to there Strachan and Ordance car shops.

In this area during the war I was told there used to be a large metal bunker that was rumoured to have been used for test firing. Its gone and probably being used for beer cans by now.

I'll post more info when I can. My PC needs an operating system reinstall.

Enjoy the pics, hope that helps at least

Yeah that seems much more correct. The Massey Ferguson plant was further north, closer to Sudbury street. On either side of Sudbury, where the townhomes are now, thats where the plant used to be. No more than 10 years ago I'd say.

I explored this site yesterday but don't know much about it, so any info or stories of other visits would be cool to hear. If you want to see my photos click the link below ...

http://www.eyeline...berty/liberty.html

saturday night I was checked that area out. There is a cop station right across the street from that whole field. We weren't there long and didn't even go inside the building when cops showed up by the missing board entrance to the mud field. We got away of course but who knows why they went there.. because we weren't visible from any roads or anything. They actually unlocked the whole fence when we drove by a few minutes after our getaway.

What building are you talking about? Mud field? Missing board entrance to the field? Are you talking about the Inglis building? If it is some other building I have missed, please, pleeeease 'message' me. I have been trying to do all the liberty area buildings.

Last time I cam out of the Inglis Building, there was a cop parked next door (west) in front of that newer warehouse-type building. I think they just pull in there from time to time while on patrol. Either to check on that building, or just to catch a nap in the car ;)

What he said made perfect sense with the photo of the building he posted.

Here's a lockpick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you.

Oh sorry...

The line: "We weren't there long and didn't even go inside the building when cops showed up by the missing board entrance to the mud field." really confused me.

I am quite familiar with that building, in that picture above, but I haven't been down there in a few weeks....so maybe something has changed down there?

I am pretty sure it's the same place.. but who knows because I am not from toronto. We just saw it and said... there's one!

This is a MS paint map I drew of what I meant. It isn't exact.. but it is the area from what I remember and it is more or less accurate. Dont ask me for the entrance to the building because to bad for you! Also across the street there's another building that looked abandoned but it seemed like it was already halfway turned into condos or something.

Yup that's it I was there on Saturday. I was surprised to see you can't just walk on inside anymore, you have to put minimal effort into entry.

Here's a lockpick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you.

ooooooooooooooooooooooooooh

ok......... gotcha.

I saw that and thought "oh looks like mewthree took the long way in." But, I guess, as Boffo say, the usual entrance is no longer the norm.

Thanks guys

I just got back from an attempt entry, it was a complete failure. Workers in and around the building, trucks moving and guards

Oh and by the way the treasure map above really helps. But, now the entrace is a huge gate

Well when the cops showed up they opened one of the chain link fence gates.. the one closest to 'the missing board entrance'

If you go around and enter the facility from the back there used to be a small gap in the fence you could squeeze through.

By the back I mean go around behind the new warehouse and then you will come to this fence seen here.

Look for a gap in the fence

Or if you cross the bridge then you can walk down the slope in the parking lot and cross the train tracks and......

Then you wind up right next to the building and in the mud field.

While we are in the area.....

Has anybody ever made it into the old Prison Chapel? Either lately? or "once upon a time"?

Avatar-X posted photos of it in the database entry back in 2003:
http://www.uer.ca/...ow.asp?locid=20118

I don't know anyone who has been inside lately.

There was nothing to see inside the old chapel back in 2003 and I suspect that there is even less to see inside there now.

Thanks Yokes and Manitou.

At the least the link to the DB was a good spot for me to do some internet research. Know that it was called "central prison" really helped find history.

Quite a history Liberty Village has....
