Where do we go in Hamilton?

So since Hamilton has been established as the place we go, can anyone give us a few addresses or locations perhaps?

It's a tragedy.
It's exactly like a greek tragedy.
We should only be Greeks.

If you go to Hamilton. You will see the locations. I've accidently come across a few just driving around the city.

Here's a lockpick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you.

DOWNTOWN!!!!!

We must also go out and meet the enemy before he reaches our shores. We must defeat him before he attacks us, before our cities are laid to waste.

If someone wants to get together, just email me justin.kaplan at gmail.com, theres the old Gov't building just 1 block east of Hess. Its attached to the old H.M.P building and boarded up. Probably really interesting on the inside.

Anyone have some info on this?

I've been in, its not interesting. Just a really big, empty building thats kind of hard to get into.

HMP is kind of interesting. Easy to enter.

I just moved down here from Ottawa for school. The first time I walked by, I told myself it'd be interesting to see. Surprised that there are so many UE enthusiasts around here.

When I take the VIA/Amtrak Maple Leaf train into Toronto, you go right though Ham-town and even see abandoned places from the train.

Of course, thats because at one point industries depended on direct railroad connections.

Ya, its the same back in Ottawa. I've only been here for 5 months now and still don't know anyone who'd be into this kind of stuff.

Sorry to bump this thread considerably, but have you tried the Lister Block on James? Lord knows it's boarded up real good but I'm sure someone can find an entrance. There's also what's left of the Tivoli Theatre. If you walk around the downtown core you can find tons of promising buildings. Myself being young and often alone when I stumble upon these sites, I haven't had the pleasure of taking a good look.

If you want to try the Lister Block, (the inside looks amazing, google.ca it for some pics,) you'd better hurry as the city's planning a possible demolition.

They've been planning that work since last May. Nothings happened with the building yet. Lister Block is accessible, if you look around you'll find the way.

Tivoli is pretty tight, we tried getting into it on the last Hamilton meetup day but all we were able to get into was a weird diet coke of basements. No entry to the main auditorium.

Yah, theres a ton of locations in the downtown area alone... just take a walk up and down King St. and take whatever streets that branch off from it, you'll find at least a dozen abandonments. Our city's down with abandoning stuff.

I also forgot to add one more location.

John Weir Foote, VC Armouries. Not abandoned, quite active, but tons of fun to explore. There are lots of tunnels that go underneath the armouries that can be explored and you may even come across one of the armouries resident ghosts...

The place on James North? I'd be interested in exploring that. I didn't know there was tunnels and stuff

When it was originally built there were large tunnels that went all the way underneath the entire armouries... bowling allies, rifle ranges, the whole shebang. Eventually, the place was burnt down except for the original gun shed and most of the tunnels were filled in, but there is still access to the ones that survived. Once you get downstairs, open as many doors as you can. Most of them are locked, but the ones that aren't can have some pretty cool shit in 'em. Be warned though, it is a military training facility and if you get caught trespassing by yourself, (without a military affiliated escort,) you could be facing a nice visit to the Military Police base in London, ON. Also, when you enter the main parade square, (going into the courtyard and through the big green doors on your right,) there'll be a panel on the left wall... that's the security alarm control panel. If it reads "Armed", hussle your ass out of there fast.

Of course I've briefly explored and found some cool stuff, most of which I can't even remember where it is. As an Army Cadet, I'm there a lot and it's like a second home to me... and I still don't know of all the secrets the place holds. The armouries are said to be inhabited by many spirits, human and inhuman, some of which I've experienced myself. But that's for a different thread altogether.

If you have any more questions on the JFA, you can PM me.

Well, the developer does. As for the city, they're following the money.

Either way, I fear the Lister Block is nearing its end.

Its inevitable. Either by wrecking ball or the Tivoli way. I still think it can be saved (I love the building way too much) but its time is nearly up. I don't think it will make it past 2010 without something happening.

The city isn't really doing the best job of securing it. You can jump along roof tops and peer out of windows without fear. Nobody really cares about the building, most find it an eyesore and a nuisance. I think its beautiful.

Theres some designs up for the Tivoli but they're all pretty bad.

I hate those new designs, they should rebuild it so it looks exactly like it did. It's a piece of Hamilton's history, just like the Lister Block. The Lister Block is a beautiful, beautiful building and I walk by it every Tuesday on my way to cadets. Maybe this Tuesday I'll scout around and see if I can find an entrance.

There was always that car crawl and the ramp to liven things up.
