Old Chicago Amusement Park

I frequented this place quite a bit as a kid. It was the first ever indoor amusement park/mall/eatery and I loved it. I snapped this picture from a bus I was in at about age 14? I had completely forgotten about it but when I saw the sign and those replica lions a rush of memories came flooding back. Unfortunately the place would be torn down before I ever got to go back and try to explore. I was just wondering if anyone had made it in and got any pictures, or knows any sites of someone that did.
I did find a nice site with some great history info located here,http://www.negative-g.com/OldChicago/OCEnd4.html But thats about it.

Had to come back and add something, is it just me, or does it seem that every other place thtat tried this formula of an amusement park/mall. entertainment/eatery had sucess? Mall of America, etc etc.....

It's not much, but:

I'm sure there's more out there if you look harder than I did.

I remember going there once as a kid (I must have been nine years old at the time), looking down at the indoor roller coaster from a balcony, and thinking "This is a very weird place." For some reason that image has stuck with me all of these years.

Whoa. That place looked very promising, both active and abandoned

Another one of those buildings I wish I'd known about prior to its demise... :\

Well duh me, haha didnt read all of that stuff on the history page well enough. I guess it was used when it was abandoned for the movie The Fury. Went to blockbuster tonight but they didnt have it. I know it wont be the same as exploring it. But this ones a little different for me since I used to go there all the time as a kid. Id love to see it again!

That's cool, I know how that feeling goes Poison, I got into all of this exploring stuff through my love of Amusement Parks, and tracking down places I had been as a kid in the KC area. I guess you could say that www.defunctparks.com was my first UE site, even before Actionsquad.org. I'll have to check out the Fury as well.

Old Chicago was just way ahead of it's time.
But beyond that, it had no major anchors and no direct access from I-55.
Also, and most importantly, it was out in the middle of nowhere!!
