| | EX-SYDNEY EXPLORER LOOKING FOR KIWIS < on 12/26/2005 1:34 AM >
| | | Ive been out of the Sydney Urban Speleology scene for quite some time now. Coming across the forums I now find some of the great advocates have passed. I have had the pleasure of dealing with the big 2 from Sydney, big 3 if we include Toronto. Their contributions should never be forgotten. On a lighter note, I would be interested to know of any Kiwi Explorers (North Island especially). Its time to put another battery in the dolphin. I have come across AbandonedNZ.com which seems dedicated to photographing the outside of places I wish to explore. If anyone is interested in starting up a new chapter over here please get in contact with me.
HOWIE ============================================================= ODE TO BALMAIN POWER STATION: "Balmain Power Station Sits, Awaiting its last day. To stand and be a useful part, and turn night into day. Between the locals and progress, accelerating time. Through coal and steam to digital, its turbines now just mime. Ah' so another era ends, but have we time to think? To save a part of history here, and we will all look back through photograph and film thats kept, and stay on the right track" UNKNOWN AUTHOR

| | | Hi Doug, That would be me. Good to see the CC stronger than ever. Rumour would have it that the last newspaper article was a Bunker Boyz only police bust. But I seem to recall a few Sydney Caveclan members lying face down in the dirt beside me that night! Thanks for those email addresses. Ill drop them a line for their suggestions. Due to the rainfall, there just has to be "big drains" somewhere in NZ... Howie.

| | | Yes there are a couple of NZ explorers over there, none of which l met. Kurt from abandoned.nz l emailed alot, he seemed keen but l cant remember why we didnt meet in the end. Durgin and I travelled NZ and made a location list, except l have temporarily lost it. But there is some good shit there. Top three sites * Meremere powerstation.
* A abanoned train platform in auckland * Stoney Batter Bunker
I will forward the list when l find it.

| | | I thoroughly enjoyed Stoney Batter, Sydney Bunkers Pail in comparison to the over preparedness of the Kiwi Fortifications. Pity they're winning the rugby too! Meremere mocks me every time I drive down to Hamilton, as I believe they are doing the asbestos removal now. Not that Asbestos stopped me going anywhere before (Whitebay Power Station) but Im a little older and wiser now... I was fortunate enough to get a head start on other locations via a NZlocations.doc file which I will append to and send back to the owner. I believe the Adelaide Clan will be venturing over in March and some Sydney Clan in April, looking forward to catching up with both those groups. Howie. www.bunkerboyz.org

| | | I had Syme from the Caveclan over here in April and we ended up doing the bunkers on the 2 hills at Devenport (Nth Shore) and we took the ferry across to Waiheke Island and did Stoney Batter which was awesome. I spoilt the trip with a small 3/10 drain which we both gave the naming rights too. Never the less. I look forward to seeing his photos wherever they are posted. Howie. Lots to come on the bunkerboyz.org site once I get off my lazy arse and update the content.

| | | You have a NZknown.doc? I wrote one up, sent it out to a few people but l don't seem to be able to find it anymore. Maybe l should do a thorough search for that list again... Or if anyone else has it, post it here!
